"Don't leave anything valuable in your room!"

2.0

Just back from a 2 day business trip and unfortunatly this was the only hotel I could find. I usually stay in the Ibis so my expectations are not high, but this place takes things to a new low. Firstly, there is no reception after 16:30, which is fine as long as the instructions for entry into the hotel are correct! They weren't. Luckily for me someone soon exited the hotel and I was able to gain entry by following them. Secondly, the room was smelling of paint, I suspect it had been painted that day, but did nothing to aid a restfull nights sleep. Thirdly, the shower was broken. Fourth, there are no tea/coffee making facilities, no guest guide on where to get anything, no breakfast in the morning....nothing. Finally, and this has what has driven me to review this hotel; on the second day of my stay I returned to my room to find the door open! The bed had been made, so my guess is that the cleaners had left it open. Of course with there being no reception there was nobody to complain to until the morning. When I did finally speak to someone at reception I got the worst response ever....nothing. No apology, nothing. If this was the only option in the future I would cancel my trip.

1. The entry instructions for out of hours entry are incorrect, you should update these. 2. The shower in room 14 is broken and needs fixing. 3. Someone (I guess the cleaner) left my room open with my personal posessions available for anyone to take. 4. The room smells of paint. 5. There is nowhere to make a hot drink 6. There is no breakfast.

"How about keeping your customers informed?"

2.0

I was refunded my payment some days before I was due to arrive, without any notification as to why. The hotel still appeared on my account as a booking, so I thought I had to go there to be sure otherwise I might be charged the full fee. I turned up around 17:00 with no-one at the counter, so I waited. Eventually a resident told me the place is just for refugees and tourists must go elsewhere. I wandered around Darmstadt Nord trying to find somewhere to stay, ending up an hour later at Darmstadt Central and staying at the first hotel I could find, which was quite expensive but I just wanted to stop and have a shower. I book with hotels.com so things like this won't happen! I just hope I'm not going to be charged for a "no show" because I showed!

"Comfortable Stay"

10.0

I was nervous about staying at the Pallas-Hotel after reading some critical reviews. Once we arrived I was so glad we reserved this hotel. Yes, it is above a grocery store, but how convenient! It is within a 15 minute stroll to downtown, and within 10 minutes to wonderful local restaurants. The room was amazingly comfortable and the staff (this is NOT run by college kids, it IS a teaching Hotel for student majoring in Hotel and Tourism) was so helpful and spoke great English. The shower is small. If you are claustrophobic or are a large individual, the shower may be a challenge for you. We had no problem with the wi-fi connection. We would stay here again given the chance. We took a taxi to the airport - cost $58 Euro.

"Fair quality for fair price"

6.0

The biggest challenge was finding the hotel, as it is squeezed on a parking lot near two supermarkets with no sings on the main street which caused us to walk unnecessary 100 in extreme heat meters before turning back. The stairway had an elevator but the receptionist didn't told us how to use it, although she saw us carrying a heavy baggage (my girlfriend's suitcase had about 25 kilos). Only other shortcoming was that the wi-fi use was paid in the lobby as well as in the hotel rooms, which is unprecedented. However, room was nice, clean and spacious, we didn't even mind the sight of a supermarket's rooftop from our window. Although we were near a huge power plant and a busy traffic junction, there was not hear a sound from the outside which was a big plus. We can't blame the hotel for extreme heat we experienced as it was very hot season. The breakfasts were really excellent and we really liked the idea of themed breakfast and the waiter was always willing to make us coffee/tea according to our wishes. For relatively small price, this is an advisable option for short stays bussines or holiday.

"Travel light"

8.0

The hotel is run by students. No one is available at the desk after 7pm. If someone had not opened the door for us we would not have had access to our room. Room key and receipt was on reception desk. Someone had taken our internet access info so we spent 3/4 hour trying to locate someone to assist with obtaining access to email. Internet access was slow. Over 30 steps from ground level to rooms and no elevator. Also, no air conditioning.

I arrived to the hotel about 15 minutes late so around 7:15 but they were closed and we called the number and nobody showed up. So we had to book in another hotel. It was so disappointing

"Hot water free of charge"

6.0

If you wonder about the title you should know that the wifi is paying 3 euros per day. I think that at the same they could charge hot water. It is a way to mask a slightly smaller price. The rooms (some of them have only a hole in the roof of the room to the daylight. It is within walking distance from the center with a convenient parking
