Big Splash Adventure Indoor Water Park & Resort

We used to love big splash but we were not able to go during the pandemic as usual. We decide to spend new years this time at big splash and we were so disappointed. The room was not clean, the water park was so outdated and you could see the rust on every slide and steps of the water park. The breakfast was not as good, the quality was not good and some food was burnt. unfortunately we don’t think we will be coming back as we usually do every year previously to the pandemic.

Everything was very outdated and not very clean

We stayed here overnight after my son and my daughter, along with their families, booked the train ride for The Polar Express (which was wonderful by the way), last January. I made my reservation at that time but didn't read the reviews until the night before we were to arrive. I was extremely nervous to stay here after reading so many terrible reviews. I even entertained the thought of driving back to Indianapolis area after the train ride rather than stay at the hotel. We were very surprised to find our room was clean and the bed was comfortable, the waterpark was not crowded, and the staff were all very friendly, often going out of their way to say "hi" or "have a great day". The free breakfast in the morning was fine, typical of the same you would find at a Hampton or similar. No complaints here and very convenient to The Polar Express train ride. We would not hesitate to stay here again.

When arriving to my room, there was still the dirty linens on there from the previous guest. they had been taken off the pillows, however they were still on the bed. Moving the blankets back you can tell they were not changed after someoone else had already slept in this bed due to the short solid black hairs that was mixed in the covers. There were not fitted sheets the beds, I have to sleep on the sheet. The bathroom floor hasn't been mopped for a while.

We arrived early and fully expected them to tell us to wait until the 4 pm check-in time, but the hotel was able to get our group into all our rooms at 1:30 pm. Fantastic! Our rooms were all very clean. The water park was great, and all the staff members at the front desk and water park were all very friendly. Some staffers really had fun pushing the kids down the big slides and asking us if we wanted to go "super fast." It is a bit loud, but it's a family water park, so that's expected. It did quiet down during "quiet hours" after 10 pm. The kids loved the bunk beds. We are already booking our trip for next year.

We had a lovely time. The rooms are showing a little wear and tear, as are the water features. However, we plan on returning in the summer and are excited to see if any updates have been implemented.

If you book 3rd party you still have to buy the waterpark pass! Sucked spending $100 for an hour

I thought the rooms would be nicer. Kind of small…not even a couch to sit on. There was a chair but with it being a kid friendly place you automatically know there are going to be 2 people in each room. Everything seemed plain…only light in bedroom was 2 lamps between the bed. They are not updated with technology charging. Not one phone charger plugin in the room. My biggest issue is with EXPEDIA I rented a room at a water park facility and when I arrive I’m told the water park was not included in the price. Why wouldn’t it be one price for all, just like the hotel. Instead I had to pay $25 a person per day over my hotel cost. I had originally thought I’d let them swim before we left on the last day but after forking out an extra $200 just to go to the water park for 2 days. So I think Expedia should include the swim park in with the cost of the hotel. I would be ok if the cost was a little more for this reason.

My husband and I booked a room at Big Splash for a trip with our 3 young grandkids. We booked the Pirates Hideaway water package. The kids enjoyed the waterpark, which is small and geared to younger children. They had fun. The hotel itself is older and very badly in need of a face-lift. The room appeared clean but was very plain and dated. The mattresses were old, and very uncomfortable. My husband and I woke up sore. The kids complained their bunks were not comfortable either. The package came with breakfast. The menu was basic cereals and the hot item was bisquits in gravy. Due to the lack luster experience we had at the hotel, we chose to take the kids to a restaurant down the street for a hot meal. If you are thinking about staying at this place for a fun time at a waterpark hotel, do yourself a favor and save some money. Stay at another hotel and purchase a waterpark day pass for everyone in your group. You will sleep much better and be money ahead. We spent $390 for 1 night and feel ripped off.
