Buena Vista Chic Hotel

We only stayed here one night, but wished we could have been here longer! The room was lovely and clean, the views were great, and staff was friendly. The grounds were gorgeous, and very enjoyable to walk through. We sat in lawn chairs and watched mot mots, aracari, and other birds. The on-site restaurant was fantastic as well! And they had an airport shuttle. Thanks for a wonderful experience!

Amazing view of San Jose, including sparkling lights at night. It is high above the city which drowns out the city noise, yet just a few minutes from the airport. The surrounding trees and flowers make it so pleasant!

We found that the description of the hotel on the website did not match reality. Whilst the rooms are clean, the decor is dated and in places needs replacement. The rooms do not have air conditioning, nor do they have room safes. The hotel does not provide complimentary water in the room. Staff was efficient but not friendly and we did not experience helpfulness. Breakfast was edible, but not freshly cooked. The views are stunning. It is a place to stay for one nights before transferring the airport, but do not expect any holiday feel.

Good location for a couple of nights stay near the airport. SLightly tired in terms of decoration but beautiful view. Not really anywhere else to eat near the hotel, so trapped by high restaurant prices. Service was good though and breakfast well served.

This hotel was ideal for a one-night stopover between landing at San Jose airport and our transfer down to Manuel Antonio. Good points – 30 minutes from San Jose airport up in the hills above San Jose. Great view over the Central Valley and lovely grounds to walk around. Large room with two queen sized beds plus large balcony. Good shower with lovely toiletries provided. TV and coffee machine (not used). Friendly staff and reasonable breakfast menu. Note: the coffee & tea at breakfast is self-service but nobody told us. Water provided. Small swimming pool. Not so good points – No storage, safe, hairdryer or fridge provided. Only ceiling fan, no A/C so hot in the room. Reasonable Wi-Fi but check connection. Limited choice in the restaurant and no light meals which we had been looking for as having travelled for 18 hours we were tired and just wanted to grab something light before heading to bed. The next morning, we discovered a small supermarket and pizza restaurant about 5 minutes’ walk down the road.

Beautiful hotel! just be aware of your valuable personal belongings at all times. Don’t leave anything unattended!

Nice hotel!

The property was beautiful and the staff were outstanding! They have a gorgeous view of the city. The hotel has an excellent restaurant and there are also a few restaurants close by. The only amenity we missed was a gym.

Staff was amazing. Hotel was clean and great views. Breakfast was yummy too.
