If you happen to be there during a cold front, highly unusual, the rooms are cold. No windows to close to keep it warmer.

Beautiful property, picturesque setting and unmatched hospitality combined for one of the best travel experiences we’ve ever had! From the moment we arrived until our departure, the entire staff went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. The service, food and cocktails were all first class, and I’d encourage everyone to try some of their unique offerings like the harvest breakfast and cultural tasting dinner. There’s plenty of hiking and beautiful scenery to take in on or near the property, as well as access to off-site excursions if you want to get more adventurous. Once again, thank you to the entire staff at Gaia for a truly wonderful experience!

We had a wonderful day at Gire River Lodge celebrating my 70th birthday. The rooms, service and food were all wonderful. We did the Barton cave tour and zip lining and had a nice bike ride with a walk down to the waterfall. The organic garden tour was a nice added bonus. A particular shout out to Calbert who ended up at being our private guide for airport pick up, cave tour, zip lining, and transport back to the Belize city airport. The casual luxury vibe was right up our alley.

Apart from the rat in our room and speaking to the manager about it, all the staff were fantastic and we loved seeing hummingbirds in the gardens. The location was beautiful and we loved hearing the sounds of the waterfall. The restaurant also had great vegetarian options.

We had a rat in our room - while I expect insects to be able to get in, I'd expect that the rooms would be proofed against rodents and larger animals. When we told the manager, they suggested the fact that we had vaccuum packed food in our suitcase had attracted them - which both felt unlikely, and that they were blaming us despite there being no guidance given about this. A note that at mountain pine ridge there are small biting black flies that bite during the day and create incredibly itchy bites. Worth being aware of!

La chambre vue montagne est uniquement une vue jardin. Si vous voulez une vue telle que présenté sur les photos de booking, vous devez sélectionner les catégories supérieures. Nous aurions préféré qu'on nous précise que seul le menu continental au déjeuner était inclus, car nous avons dû payé pour notre commande le 1er jour. Seul des ventilateurs sont disponibles dans les chambres, cela était suffisant compte tenu de la météo, mais c'est bon de le savoir avant.

Gaia Riverlodge is truly one of a kind and an outstanding example of what a luxury ecolodge should be. From the moment we arrived, the staff were absolutely incredible... warm, attentive, and genuinely passionate about the property and the experience they create for guests. The setting is breathtaking. We loved it so much that we spent almost an entire day simply relaxing on the property—lounging by the waterfall, enjoying cocktails and great food, and ending the day with an unforgettable sunset on the massive deck overlooking Mountain Pine Ridge. The view from our cabin was equally stunning and made every morning feel special. Wildlife noise to fall asleep and wake up was also very special. While the bugs were noticeable, they were thankfully not mosquitoes and didn’t detract much from the experience. We were initially concerned about the lack of air conditioning and the drive to get there, but both worries turned out to be non-issues. The road from the main highway is about 95% paved, with only the last mile or so being dirt, and the cooler mountain climate meant it actually got pleasantly chilly at night. Our room was meticulously decorated and cleaned daily. Coffee service each morning was a nice surprise as well. We also booked excursions through the resort, including ATM Cave and the Night Hike, and both were excellent, well-organized, memorable, and absolutely worth doing. The food deserves special mention. Importantly, it’s good... which really matters since there are no nearby dining alternatives. Breakfast was fantastic: the included continental options were great, and the paid breakfast dishes were equally delicious. Dinner was very high quality and more fine-dining focused, though portions were on the smaller side. Our only minor critique is the gap between lunch and dinner offerings. Lunch (which ends at 3pm) featured more casual, shareable items like sandwiches, tacos, ceviche, and appetizers with larger portions, while dinner leaned toward higher-end plates that weren’t really designed for sharing. A few evenings we just wanted to relax with a drink and split a couple of small plates, and found it expensive to get full, but this is truly a minor note in an otherwise exceptional experience. Overall, this was a 10/10 stay that perfectly captures the magic of the Belizean jungle while delivering real comfort and luxury. We’ve traveled all over the world, and Gaia Riverlodge easily ranks among the top three resorts we’ve ever stayed at. Highly, highly recommended.
