"Making a memory but remember you’re camping."

7.0

Clamping is an experience every family should experience with young kids. The fire stove in the tent was great because it got cold! The welcoming staff were family and informative. When you check in you are given a tutorial on what to expect in your tent and at the bath house. If you have never clamped it’s not like anything you would expect. Think more like when you were a kid and you went to summer camp. It’s not primitive camping but it’s close. The walk to the bath house to use the restroom or shower is something you should know especially if you have to go at 3:30 am. Bring a good flashlight! You’re paying a lot of money to “camp out” but you’re making an experience so it can be worth it for one night. The fire pits are a big hit with the kids and the s’mores tasted great.

The bath house is not monitored closely. The towels are stored in a separate room in the middle of the bathrooms. Check to be sure there are towels before you start. It’s frustrating to walk back to your tent to call the front desk asking them to restock. Especially if it’s dark and getting chilly. The bathrooms themselves are not cleaned regularly. It’s up to you to clean the shower, floors and sink before you leave. Remember I said you are camping. This is not like a regular hotel experience. You will get your luggage carried to your tent by the welcoming front desk staff but if you need help when leaving you will need to call the front desk to get someone to load your luggage because the pathways are dirt and your tent is not close to your parked car. Remember I said you are camping!

"Beautiful Location and Sky Line"

8.0

The staff were very attentive and helpful. Beds were comfortable. We chose not to use the fire stove and got really cold the first night (I also realized our window was not zipped all the way shut). We survived the 38 degree night and the 2nd night we took them up on hot water bottles to put at the foot of our bed to keep extra warm. All was good then. My kids loved swimming in the stream, but unfortunately the mosquitoes were so bad that my husband and I could not enjoy sitting by the water. My kids also enjoyed the fire pits and smores. They offered open 24hours tent lobby with a night staff if needed, which also provided snacks, coffee, tea, hot coco, clothing items or camp gear for purchases. Extra bathrooms and shower facilities by the lobby were clean and helpful. We only stayed 2 night due to the price. They had a lot of fun activities we just did not get a chance to experience.

Price and tap down water or chain pull shower was a little frustrating.

Great camping experience for amateurs. We loved the vibes, but our daughter loved it the most. We had a very comfortable stay. Would definitely repeat.

"We didn’t even try to stay. That’s how mislead I was."

2.0

The restaurant was delicious.

The photos and description online are very misleading. It says 3 star hotel. The photos make everything look beautiful. In truth, the bed was comfortable but we didn’t even stay for 3 hours. No power. No air. No plug for a CPAP machine. No cancellations. The only accessible power was via an adapter for phones and a fan the size of my fist. I knew there was no heat and I was excited about the wood stoves, but that was about it. The bathrooms were clean, but I didn’t use the shower. The food at the restaurant was DELICIOUS. This was the only redeemable feature. Be advised, this is a tent with a bed. This is not accommodating in any way. This is camping. If you have your own gear, you can fish in the nearby water, but I wouldn’t recommend this at all for someone who has traveled from afar.

"OK but just not close to worth the price"

6.0

While the amenities and activities at Under Canvas in West Yellowstone are good, there are many issues that make it a very poor value versus other options in the area. The biggest issues we had were: (1) issues with the repair quality of the tents; and (2) limited staff / service during the stay. Both issues I would be much more relaxed about if the price per night were not as high as is charged. At $1,000 / night (for a family tent that fits 5), there shouldn't be holes all around the tent and sides falling off. Similarly, at that price, there should be staff enough to help with basic requests during the stay without massive delays. On the positive side, the family enjoyed the music, firepits, smores, and activities around the lobby tent. There is certainly thought and effort into making this more than just a place to sleep over night. Food was OK and somewhat overpriced, but it was nice having a food option on-site when our days ran long and we just wanted something quick/easy at the end of the day. Ultimately, I cannot recommend this place to anyone in its current state unless you get a much better price for the stay or they make a bigger effort to improve the current property.

This was a unique experience for my family of four in early July 2025. The staff was very friendly and helpful. While it's hot during the day, West Yellowstone weather will quickly change, and cold will be a whole new experience. A buddy told me the potbelly stove my dry my throat out after having radiation treatments months prior as I continue to heal. We have never felt cold like that and the remaining nights would be with the fire burning to keep us warm. Lesson learned. The key is stoking the fire to get the logs burning just right. They will teach you how to do this during orientation. I recommend the Suite tents that have a sink and shower.
