Smartr Madrid Atocha

Stayed for 3 nights with a group of friends. Great location for shopping, sightseeing and nightlife. Plenty of room and very clean with modern décor. Hot water was limited when 5 of us all wanted showers. A hairdryer in both bathrooms would also be useful. Otherwise it was well equipped. Staff were very helpful and friendly both via email before arrival and face-to-face during our stay. I would definitely recommend and use again.

My friend left her iphone in the room while we checked out by leaving the key in the room. Because we were catching the flight, so we could not wait for the staff to come to open the door for us and agreed on allowing the hotel sending us the phone by carrier. However, we waited for their response but they told us that they did not find the iphone. We pretty sure the ipone was in the room, but the hotel denied that they found it.

Called ahead and had no problem getting in. The front desk was staffed and very friendly. The room was great. Perfect location is within 10-15 walk of most of the old-town sights and museums. I wish I could have stayed longer than 2 nights.

The place was super comfortable and clean. The place was quiet but centrally located near all the museums and park. We would definitely stay at this place again.

The 3 bedroom 2 bath unit is not designed for tall people, as it is a loft. The upper level is so low that people of 6 feet are unable to see their nose in the upper bathroom mirror and likely hit their head during their stay. Location is great for Prado and other sights, staff was responsive to requests.

We stayed for two days. Location is close to most of attractions. Apartment is good. However mattress was saggy. Streets were noisy and sound insulation is flimsy. Wifi speeds were very slow. On the whole it was so so experience.

We had a family trip to Madrid for a few days over half-term. We wanted to make the most of our time so location was important. So too was safety and cleanliness. We were looking for flexibility so opted for an apartment with self-catering facilities rather than a hotel. The apartment block had a mixture of locals and tourists which probably explained the high standards of décor. Our 2 bedroom apartment was pleasantly decorated, reasonably well-equipped and spacious. We were hoping for 2 single beds in one bedroom for the teenagers. It was one bed plus a pull-out truckle bed, which was not ideal as it meant a teenage brother and sister effectively sharing a double bed. It is possible to leave luggage in a separate room near the reception area if you arrive before official check in at 3 pm or if you have a late flight on departure (check out is 11 am). We arrived at 2 pm and the friendly receptionist allowed us in the apartment early as it was ready. We really enjoyed our stay here and would highly recommend the accommodation to those on a similar budget and with similar priorities.

Great location! Very spacious and they have everything you need in their kitchen. Very close to everything and on a quieter street. Our only issue is we arrived before 11 and had to wait on the street but luckily another guest was leaving and let us in to the lobby to wait. The attendant only arrived shortly after 11 however he was very nice and let us put our suitcases in the rooms so we could go walking around. Easy walk to the train station!

This was great for us! It was the perfect way to experience Madrid. It was spacious and definitely better than the traditional European hotel. The staff was wonderful and we let them know about a few things that didn't even require immediate attention, and they had someone there in 15mins to take care of it. It was also nice to have the kitchen. It has all the things you need to have a quick meal. There were plenty of linens, but the towels were not plentiful. Location was excellent...we didn't even need a cab to get to all the sights. Grocery store around the corner. Would definitely recommend this location.

Apartment was not as nice as expected based on Expedia photos but it was still a very nice, well equipped apartment. It is not an actual hotel but an apartment building with a friendly & helpful staff member that sits in the lobby from about 10:00 am to about 7:00 pm. There is no reception, concierge, room service or any hotel facilities - just a very nice apartment. There is also no parking but apparently, there are parking facilities within 1-2 blocks, I think. Aside from this, it is in a great location, minutes from the Atocha Train Station and walking distance from the Metro. It is a short walk to the Prado Museum, Plaza Mayor, Madrid Cathedral, Plaza de Madrid and many other historical sites. Many excellent restaurants, cafes & pubs nearby.
