El Ksar Resort & Spa- Family Hotel

Concise, Clear & Impactful Review If you’re booking this hotel based on the photos, please don’t. Several of the advertised facilities simply do not exist — including the “wellness centre” shown in photo 73, which was abandoned and closed when we arrived. When we visited, the hotel owner was actually in jail for fraud, and part of the hotel was derelict. I’m an early riser and like to explore on the first morning, but what I found was shocking: broken facilities, closed areas, and a general lack of maintenance everywhere. Major Issues Wellness centre: Completely abandoned and not operational, despite being advertised. Slides: Didn’t work for an entire week. Cleanliness: The hotel was filthy, and complaints were brushed off. Food: Extremely poor quality — I even lost weight during the stay. Condition: The whole place needs a serious update and full refurbishment. Positives The staff were the only saving grace. They were genuinely brilliant and couldn’t do enough for guests (even without tipping). Special mentions: Sunbed Sam at the slides pool — outstanding. Chef Jack at the snack bar — excellent. Barman Bill — fantastic service. Rooms: Acceptable and reasonably maintained. Overall Despite the great staff, this is not a good hotel. The condition, cleanliness, and misleading advertising make it somewhere I would never return to. We stayed for 10 days, and that was more than enough. This hotel needs a complete overhaul before it should be sold to guests again

★☆☆☆☆ Very disappointing experience and certainly not what I would expect from a 4-star hotel. The biggest issue was the air conditioning. Despite the high temperatures, the AC was not available throughout the day and appeared to operate only during limited hours. The room became extremely uncomfortable for long periods, which significantly affected my stay. I also experienced a serious privacy concern when a housekeeping staff member entered my room without knocking. To make matters worse, there was no “Do Not Disturb” sign available in the room, and my request for one was ignored. The room lacked basic amenities that are standard in most hotels, including bottled water, tissues, a kettle, and tea/coffee supplies. The towels had an unpleasant smell, raising concerns about housekeeping standards. When I raised these issues with reception, I was told that a room change might be possible, but no clear action was taken. Overall, I felt that complaints were acknowledged but not effectively resolved. The hotel’s location may be good, but the service quality, room comfort, and attention to guest concerns fell far below the standard expected from a hotel claiming a 4-star rating. I would not choose to stay here again unless significant improvements are made. To make matters worse, even after requesting replacement towels, the newly provided towels were still visibly stained and appeared worn. I have attached photos for reference. While the hotel may consider them clean, this level of housekeeping is not what guests would reasonably expect from a 4-star property. Combined with the air-conditioning issues, lack of basic amenities, and poor handling of guest concerns, this has significantly impacted the quality of my stay.

I booked with on the beach and I've got to say its very deceiving, the hotel is over one hour away from the airport, the hotel reception staff are terribly ignorant and the rooms are disgusting, no kettle, no toilet roll for 4 days in a row although fresh towels were brought daily. No replacement of the 4 glasses we used at all, air conditioning is useless and its just generally out dated. The random furniture dotted around the place is filthy, everything is sticky and generally mucky. There is absolutely no atmosphere in the evening and the ala cart restaurant looks like an old army canteen if and when its open, the cocktails are pathetic and served in a child's plastic cup which is strange as they serve glasses at the beach and pool area, Be careful down the beach as there is constant locals trying to sell you a load of rubbish, if you make eye contact you've had it, its relentless hassle. The food is absolutely shocking, anything left over for days on end is recycled, bland and inedible, they can't even get the chips right, we ended up having to eat out every night at the marina which is stunning and a 7 minute taxi away for approximately £3/£5 English pounds and the food prices were incredible, 2 bottles of wine, 2 starters and 2 fillet steaks would set you back around £50. I want to say a massive shout out to Ryan the waiter on the beach, he is incredible and I never went to the bar once as he wouldn't let me, great friendly guy and that's without a tip. I'd recommend paying a little bit extra and avoiding this old and dirty out of date hotel especially if your English and want a bit of decent food. I've given it 2 stars rather than 1 as the beer is good and the waiter at the beach.

I've been on family holidays several times, but this was the first time I met such a nice, friendly and energetic group of animators. With great energy and pleasure they helped to make every moment more pleasant from morning to night -> pool games, sports, shows and dancing. Special mention for animator LUKA - our super friend. Private beach, location, food... is very good

It was a nice stay in quiet location by the beach. Atmosphere was friendly. GREAT RECOGNITION ESPECIALLY FOR ONE ANIMATOR LUKA so fun and helpful. He did much more work than animations usually do. Thanks him we felt the spirit of Tunisia. Our room was good too, large and spacious but the hotel could do more about cleaning especially corridors. Food was tasty, waiters friendly. Swimming pool in good condition . Astonish view from balkony.

It is a very good hotel, atmsosphere is very friendly, rooms are clean, food and restaurant are on good level. Hotel is located in a quiet area so it is perfect for families with children. We especially wanted to thank the animator,Luka! He's a nice and friendly guy. He's the best animator there, and thanks to him, we felt like home. He has a great approach to people and is proffesional in what he does. Thanks to him it was the best vacation we've ever had! Thank you Luka!!!

We read some bad reviews before coming and was worried we choose wrong but we found this hotel to be great! Myself, my husband & our 15 year old daughter stayed here 26th May for one week. ALL the staff are so friendly & helpful, they work so hard to make your holiday as good as possible. We found the hotel very clean although slightly dated. The hotel is very big with plenty of places to chill out. The restaurants are nice, we thought the food was delicious and plenty of variety to choose from, their Gala dinner was magnificent on the Saturday evening. The waiters are very friendly. We thought the all inclusive wine & beer were fine but the cocktails in the all inclusive section was bit rubbish ( I added my own vodka i bought from the airport duty free to my drinks & my husband bought his own spiced rum because we knew they didn’t have any ) their locally produced spirits weren’t strong but they are a country that don’t drink alcohol. There is a non all inclusive section which we didn’t try. The pools are nice, one deep, one shallow, a kids very shallow & in a different area there is a pool with watersides. The very friendly animation team are full on with activities like volleyball, waterpolo, darts, bowls, aqua aerobics, stretching exercises etc..during the day, doing their dance routines around the pool encouraging people to participate ( not too pushy though) also a kids club. They do play music throughout the day with occasional quiet times, The shallow area is shaded well with palm trees. The deep end is full on sun. The first part of our week was out of season so some things weren’t open but June onwards the Evening entertainment got better & the beach bar opened. The beach is literally next to you so you can either get sun loungers by the pool or beach and still use both areas. Yes! people do get up early to reserve their fave sun loungers round the pool from around 6/7am, the life guard will get you the sun lounger cushions if you ask him. You can hire pool towels with a deposit, we took our own. We asked to change our room after the first night because our daughter found the sofa bed too hard for her back so they happily gave us an upgraded room overlooking the pool & beach without any quibble. You can change money up at the hotel reception at same rate as bank. The hotel shop sells most things, inflatable etc.. including SIM cards if you need one. We bought a 25GB for €25 or there is a 8GB for €15. The hotel does have WiFi is all areas but we found it a little hit & miss in some areas like the pool & beach, so a SIM card was useful for us & to go outside with too. The security team just outside the hotel can order you a taxi very quickly. We got a taxi a couple of times to the Port El Kantaoui & Mall of Sousse, the taxi driver gives you their card for you to call them to collect you after which we found useful. We did the 4X4 quad bikes, you can book trips with the nice man Alibaba at the hotel who will introduce himself to you on your first day, he walks around the pool area occasionally so you can catch him if you want to book trips. We didn’t use the spa so can’t comment. The private beach part belonging to the hotel is kept clean with security there too. There is water sports further along the beach. I think I’ve covered most things. Happy holidays, I hope you find this hotel as pleasant as we did.

The staff were nice. The ac didn't work when it was 33 degrees all week we asked every day for them too put it on and they said no. It got too a point where me and my boyfriend had too go buy a fan from a shop too help us sleep. We also had too sleep with the balcony door wide open. We were all getting food and my boyfriend's mum got some chicken, it was red RAW she went and complained and they asked why she took it of display,1 why is there food for display not cooked anyway anyone could accidentally take that. And there was no food in display it was all in the food containers u have too open. The showered went from hot and cold every 2 seconds quite literally. Entertainment is okay and the beach is lovely. They do try scam you with things on the beach though- paragliding,jetskiing thingd like that. Also the water park wasn't open even tho the website said it was.

Absolutely fantastic holiday The whole entertainment team really made the holiday especially Sarah who made elara feel part of the team every night Thank you ♥️
