El Ksar Resort & Spa- Family Hotel

Really good experience, weather was amazing all good from my part . the DJ foued was amazing as well as all the staff. food wise, too much beef and lamb didn’t switch up the menu but all good other than that

We stayed for 9 nights in the off-season (March), and here is a comprehensive and fair review, taking into account the price and expectations before booking. The PROS Excellent location. The beach is around 50 yards from the hotel. You have upmarket shops to the left and right of the resort front, including KFC if your children aren’t enjoying the hotel food. There are also fantastic gelato spots and cafés. The staff were incredible. Our cleaner was so friendly and radiated happiness every morning. The star of the show was Burhan, our waiter. He made every meal for the kids a wonderful experience. His smile was constant, and he genuinely looked like he enjoyed and cared about his job and the guests. The resort. Although dated and definitely in need of a revamp, you can see it is massive and has many things for families to do. We came in the off-season, so many of the facilities were closed. It would have been nice for Thomas Cook to make this clearer, rather than a small statement we saw after booking. The indoor pool was always at 30 degrees, so it was fabulous to swim in bath-like conditions. The CONS The rooms need an update. Although spacious, old TVs, slow WiFi, and worn showers take the shine off the incredible sea view we had. The food was not a family favourite. I can’t say if it was poor quality as we’re not used to Tunisian cuisine, but it was no better than our stays in Marrakech or Hurghada. For European guests, it may be worth adding food children are more familiar with. Beach seller. This guy needs to be banned as he’s constantly harassing guests. I understand the need to sell, but a stall where people can come by choice would be better. Excursion seller (Ali Baba). As usual, he pushes for quick sales before you find a better deal. No doubt he’s paying commission to the hotel and travel agency, but you can find the same excursions for half the price with a quick Google search. Some tips from me Download Airalo for your SIM—easy to connect on arrival. Download inDrive for taxis—good fares and helps avoid getting scammed. Download Glovo for food shopping and takeaways—similar to Uber Eats and Just Eat. Finally, tip well. These guys don’t make much, and you’ll build great relationships by helping them out. Be open-minded and understand their culture is different—once you embrace it, you’ll enjoy yourself far more than you expect. With all the negative reviews, one thing you don’t hear enough is that the area is safe. In 9 days, we saw no trouble—just people and families going about their day and enjoying life. We didn’t witness a single crime, and we walked around until 1am without any issues. Scammers exist in every country, but ask your hotel staff beforehand and they’ll happily tell you how to avoid them. Enjoy your holiday—you’ve earned it.

Very disappointed with this stay. My family and I stayed for 7 nights. On the 2nd night I requested to speak with the manager. The unfriendly lady receptionist asked ‘what is it for’ in a rude manner. After calling the manager, I asked if the had a sister hotel that we could be moved to but unfortunately they didn’t. The beds were so hard we hardly slept. The manager did offer to change the room which I appreciated but the beds were only slightly better. Socket ms hanging off the wall, walls crumbing, hair absolutely everywhere, the terrible shower blasting cold water every now and then, no variety of food, lifts randomly stopping whilst you’re in it, brown water coming from the taps and shower, damaged bath, gym equipment in bad condition, door frames coming apart, the snack between 11pm and 12 midnight is leftover food from during the day, damaged chairs in the dining room and so much more. The male waiters were fantastic, very attentive and polite. The waitresses were unfriendly, rarely cracked a smile and didn’t seem like they wanted to be there. The entertainment team were also fantastic even though it was a quiet period. Ali Baba was a gem. Without him, our stay would have been worse. He is so funny, very helpful and we booked fun excursions via him. So many others had the same complaints. We were so happy to be leaving and getting our flight back home. We met some people on our excursions from different hotels and they were explaining how great their hotel was. Wish I booked the Occidental or Mahaba hotel which is practically next door.

This was a fantastic holiday made extra special by the excellent entertainment team, who made me feel special every day. As a retired woman travelling alone, I was a bit wary, but the ENTS boys made a point of including me, and spending time with me every single day! The kids also seemed to love them, and would follow them around the hotel. They have a difficult job as they are trying to entertain toddlers right up to teenagers, but they did it with smiles on their faces! I would go back to this hotel just for them, but tbh all the staff were friendly, my room was massive and the beds comfortable. Clean towels every day. Yes it's a bit dated in some areas, but not where it counts. The food was exceptional, so much so that I am going to try to source some Tunisian recipes to try go recreate some dishes. Great hotel, lovely people and a fantastic holiday!

Nice clean and beautiful hotel. The hotel is situated in front of the beach, good location for a relaxing holiday. There were lots of activities daily like yoga and dance course.

We spent 5 days at this resort. The staff were fantastic, Very friendly and helpful, they made our stay memorable. The food was great, a lot of choice and the service was good. The 'animation team' worked so hard to make the stay memorable. Well done to all!

I stayed for 8 nights. The best days of my life were spent at this hotel. Excellent service. Wonderful tranquility. Services I haven't seen in any other hotels in Tunisia. Oh my God, the food was absolutely amazing! Thank you to the hotel staff. I will never forget you.

El Ksar is a fanatic resort. This is my 5th time returning. Gigi is a huge reason for this, Gigi is absolutely incredible with my little boy she has made my son feel at ease and supervised him during his time at the kids club. Gigi you are one in a million MashAllah
