Nice and warm stay

Worth staying here despite not being in the centre of town. Take a taxi when you arrive at the train station and then once you have your bearings you can walk into town. And there is a complimentary taxi if you don't want to walk up hill. Cosy and comfortable room with welcoming cup of tea and biscuits in the room shortly after we arrived. No restaurant so easy room service and good selection. Very good driver who works for the hotel who drove us to Dharamsala the next day.

Hotel Kapil is the perfect place to base yourself when in Shimla. Adequately-sized rooms with all the required facilities and features make you feel right at home - including complimentary Wi-Fi. My room also faced out towards the east, giving incredible views of the valley below Hotel Kapil is within walking distance of the city centre, including The Mall and The Ridge, but the hotel also provide a free taxi service to Lakkar Bazaar.

the hotel is fine although quite a long step downhill from the main ridge in shimla. It doesnt have a cafe or restaurant, though will do in-room meals, but just 50 m downhill next door is the radisson which has a great cafe with great views, so eat there.

Perched on a promontory above the valley, and over the top of the opulent Radisson this is a delightful bijou hotel, unpretentious, comfortable, friendly, very inexpensive and fine to every last detail.

We reached the Hotel on the 2nd Oct evening . The look of the Hotel from outside was disappointing but we still had some hopes from the Deluxe Suite we had booked . There was no place like a proper lobby in the Hotel and when we were taken to the Suite ,it was so small . The name was Suite but the room was below the ordinary level ,the bathroom was Horrible . We suddenly realised that we had made a mistake booking this on Expedia . The impression of the Hotel on the Expedia site is good but actually they are cheats . We just wanted to relax and ordered for a cup of tea and biscuits ,and the biscuits were soggy and smelly . We moved out of the Hotel looking for other places ,but all was booked and were trapped in this Hotel for 4 nights and the only solution was that we used to be out for the entire day and used to come only to sleep . Never use this property .

Stayed two nights, all good , clean well organised. Would stay again and can recommend the hotel.

Room was small as compared to rate (Super Delux/ Delux)

It's a small well maintained hotel that manages to be cozy, with a feel of much bigger hotel. Staff was very polite, fast and food quality and selection was very good.

Really friendly small hotel with helpful staff and a good position for the centre of Shimla. Don't be put off by the in room dinning, all the food is cooked in the hotel and is served promptly and is of a high quality at reasonable prices. Everything cleared away once you have finished by efficient room service. The view from my room was as good as any from the centre of Shimla itself. Hotel has its own car/taxi which is reasonably priced. Hotel prices in Shimla can be quite high at peak times and this hotel offered great service at very reasonable rates. Highly recommended.
