Casa Balthazar

We had a wonderful stay at Casa Balthazar. The hotel is located in the central part of the city and we were able to walk to many of the attractions and many restaurants and shops. We had a room with a lovely view towards Rossio Square and the castle. It is a charming, magical place and the staff are warm, friendly and welcoming. And it has great breakfasts. We highly recommend it!

To say Casa Balthazar is stunning is an understatement. From Day 1, when I began planning my trip to Lisbon I reached out to Casa Balthazar for advice on tours, restaurants and pretty much everything else. They could not have been more helpful! I sent them my proposed itinerary for Lisbon as well as Porto and Algarve - suggestions were made and plans were tweaked. It meant for a truly incredible experience. “Casa” is really what it is, not so much a hotel. The feeling is homey, welcoming and invites warmth. Breakfast is served buffet-style in the coziest room - I believe it used to be the bakery? There is an oven still there in the wall. The spa is quite nice, and private. You need to book a reservation but what a perk: private jacuzzi, sauna, Turkish bath. Just you. The location was great for us - so much available within easy walking distance. They booked a tuk-tuk tour for us the afternoon we arrived (DO NOT MISS THIS. Not only is it a super-cool experience, but you get an idea of the city.) Sandra was our delightful guide, and she was a hoot! Another day was a private tour arranged by CB to Sintra and Peña Palace. Ricardo with LIMODREAMERTours was our guide and driver, and we couldn’t have asked for a better one! The entire staff was amazing, but I have to give an extra shout out to Ruth and Teresa. They made it feel like home. We’ve stayed there twice now, and I know we’ll be back again. Abrigada!

Great location. Central but peaceful. Super clean and very comfortable. Great breakfast and delicious cakes. Friendly staff. Lovely views.

Bit tricky to find.

Absolutely loved my stay here. The building is beautiful. Great location but still very quiet. Breakfast was tasty - eggs available on request. Friendly staff.

The Spa was free and was very nice. The room was spacious. The breakfast was very nice with a large selection of fresh fruit, meats, cheeses and pastries.

Thought it was miserly to charge 3.5euro for water in an expensive hotel. Should be free of charge and should have water in your room. Our rooms were up a steep set of outdoor stairs.

A little hard to find but great location. Fabulous large unique rooms, wonderful breakfasts and extremely warm, helpful staff. Location a problem for anyone with mobility issues as climbing 100+ stairs or a very steep street is only way to access the hotel.
