Wonderful hospitality!!! The entire staff, from custodians to baristas to our tour guide (shout out to Charles) were patient with our kiddos, they answered all their questions, they showed genuine curiosity in what the kids were talking about! It was a great experience. It will definitely be one of or daughters favorite birthday experiences!

"A wonderful slice of the Old South"

10.0

We enjoyed our stay in the Ruffin Stirling and William Winter rooms. The grounds were very nice and the staff was amazing, very warm, friendly, and helpful. No paranormal experiences, but if you’re looking for a nice place to unwind this is a great place to stay.

"Great place to visit!"

10.0

Beautiful historic home and great tours explaining the history of the house and gardens. No ghosts seen or felt but other visitors told us of ghostly experiences they had. We stayed in the main house, which to me is worth the money. We had the Judge suite and it is definitely a suite, you basically have the whole side of the house. Very large area, bathroom has a claw foot tub, which is very nice to soak in. We ate at the restaurant on the property, it was ok, not the best we've eaten but it was good. If you don't feel like going off the property, it would be ok. The cafe was ok too for breakfast. Staying at the house, you did get unlimited coffee and juice and a choice of breakfast menu items. The gift shop has lots of local craft items that are really pretty and well priced. Some are a bit expensive. We went in November, and were told by the manager that they stay booked most of the time in the fall and spring. It is Louisiana, so it is hot during the summer! The gardens were ok, not the prettiest I have seen on plantations, but it was November and things tend to die out at that time. May have to visit in the late spring when everything is in bloom. I didn't see too many activities for children and there were no children there when we went. They did have a tour bus onsite when we arrived and apparently it is a frequent stop for tours as they head to New Orleans. Overall, it's a great place to visit!

"Could be so much better"

4.0

This is a wonderful setting. However, the bedrooms in the main house are not fit for purpose. If there are restrictions because of the age of the property these rooms should not be used.Otherwise they should be upgraded to make the bathrooms more practical (currently no shelf space, shower over very narrow tub with no space around it). Also, have at least one plug socket in the bedroom. Also, the bar closes at 8.30 pm but there are no other facilities on site and no amenities in the bedrooms. The stone cottages in the grounds look really nice but the main building is an historic building rather than a guest house. Staff in the onsite coffee shop were the only rude people we have met on our three week trip.

"The Myrtles Real Review"

4.0

My husband & I went Sunday - Monday overnight stay at The Myrtles .To get to the point, our room (William Winters) and bathroom was not what I would call clean. Dirty Qtip on the bathroom floor, and hair,in various places, from previous guests in bathroom absolutely not acceptable & disgusting . The rug in the room hasn’t seen a vacuum in a while. The bed we slept on was like sleeping on creaky old boards for $250 a night a “non-creaking” bed would have been nice. You can have the plantation look/feel without having your guests sleep on a motel mattress and what felt/sounded like (creaky) old boards. The day and evening tour was absolutely great :) Charles and Mrs.Sharon were full of interesting facts, great stories, and an obvious passion for their job. The complimentary breakfast was a joke…On Monday morning,we were told there were no breakfast meats available on Mondays because that’s the delivery day. I would think if “you” know that Monday is a day that all the meats for the breakfast menu wouldn’t be available someone in management would make some adjustments or order extra ??! I ended up with a breakfast sandwich with an egg and pimento cheese … very disappointing! There was a tour bus full of guests pulling up as we were leaving The Myrtles on Monday….I can only imagine a tour bus full of tourists were really happy(sarcastic)to find that no breakfasts meats were available ….. The 1776 restaurant advertised as being nice attire requested was sort of a joke. As people were walking in with shorts ,and very casual clothes. I guess that’s minor but just something to mention. You won’t be “under dressed” if you show up in shorts & sweat pants…. I will end this on a positive the staff were friendly and helpful and that truly is important and lacking in many places. I hope this information will help and maybe someone in management will take time to understand that these are things not to simply “complain” about but rather to communicate there are some things that guests may experience but may never say anything about…

"Rich history and spooky fun!"

10.0

The Mystery Tour was one of the most memorable and engaging nights that I have ever had! Our tour guide Charles was AMAZING: knowledgeable, friendly and so entertaining. We had a couple inexplainable experiences, too - just the spooky cherry on top! For history lovers and thrill seekers alike, a visit to the Myrtles is a must-do - make sure to ask for Charles!

"History Tour - ITS A MUST DO"

10.0

Me & my husband went for a history tour and it was very interesting. Cassie did a great job walking us through & explaining everything. I love history and it was amazing to hear so much of it on the house. I've seen the Myrtle Plantation house on ghost adventures and wanted to see for myself. Took tons of photos. We got alot of beautiful ones of the house & grounds, and ended up capturing one that was very surprising and unexpected. In over 350+ photos between me and my husband, I got this on one individual photo. Figured ide share! Highly recommend visiting if you haven't.
