Hotel Arcata

The only hotel in downtown Arcata.

Concerned about its safety in an earthquake or fire as it is an older building.

It was like an old time apartment in San Francisco, lots of vintage door handles, a clawfoot tub, beautiful wood. Got a quiet king at the back. I didn't want to leave. Will be back.

The breakfast was absurd. No one who can afford to travel wants to eat cheap corn syrup yogurt or crummy industrial pastry. Coffee was drinkable though, and real milk was on offer (but no cereal or granola to eat it with).

We loved everything about this gem. Rooms were very comfortable, loved having the sitting room for friends to join us for pre-dinner cocktails. The front office person suggested dinner at a wonderful Italian restaurant right on the town square. Loved the location, went for an afternoon walk around town. Stopped in for dessert at the doughnut shop. Breakfast was good before we continued our journey.

We stayed here for the location. The bathroom was a little sketchy but otherwise , comfortable room. I wish they used nicer linens. The bedding was very scratchy; rough, uncomfortable, possibly polyester. I had to use a blanket I had brought from home. Otherwise it was very pleasant!

Was expecting a quaint, old motel, but it was mostly old and tired.

The hotel was right in the center of town, which was nice, but was a little noisy. There is a sushi restaurant in the building, and breakfast was nice, with a cute touch of mini waffles that you can make yourself. The decor of the hotel is very historical, and the room was comfortable and clean. Staff was pleasant.

There are many homeless around, sometimes yelling at night and clustering around where you parked your car. The hotel encouraged parking on the street, which looked dubious due to no parking 3am-6am signs.
