Shandon Hotel

There is no breakfast and no lounge area for guests at all. Staff are kind and helpful. The hotel is being repaired in some areas but there are many broken things in the rooms - windows and their cranes falling outwards, or no handles in them. Some mattresses are really too old now. The lack of a fridge in the room makes the lack of breakfast even more difficult for some. Smoking was prohibited but the first room I stayed in smelled of smoke. Repairs were going on while guests were trying to get in and out. The main good points are the kindly staff and the price.

Rooms were grim, windows didn’t close properly, the first room we we allocated was tiny and the shower curtain and unit looked grotty, the tap didn’t work. We asked for alternative room and it was bigger and better but the sheets and pillows didn’t smell fresh

Disappointed I was not told when I called the hotel in the morning of our reservation that there was substantial work going on inside the hotel. When we arrived the reception area was covered in dust and wood was being cut up and lots of drilling. No facilities or toilet to get changed in before a wedding, my husband had to get changed in the carpark! Room was clean, bed very uncomfortable and no furniture to store our clothes we had to lay them on the floor!! We arrived back at midnight and not even a bottle of water in the room

Location was good.

No breakfast. Room was too small and there seemed to be only one bathroom and shower for 20 rooms.

Only 2 of the rooms that were refurbished were ok

One room we had was very dirty the corridors and even communal bathrooms dirty. Mould in the bathrooms plus other things to many to mention. The pictures of the rooms on the website were not what we turned upto. Even if it was being refurbished. Only the lower ground had been done and even they were nothing like what we seen on there. One of the refurbished rooms had a light that fell out of ceiling and the bathroom doors had a gap at the bottom which was not cut straight. The hotel had materials on show for work being done. The price we paid was not worth what we turned upto. We have photos but are waiting for a reply from the management before we do anything else.

No door on the shower ,no hairdryer and the bed was most uncomfortable
