"Not a five star hotel…….has potential but a long way to go"

8.0

As a family of 5 we booked the bungalow with a private pool. The bungalow itself was nice, pool was nice but the bathroom only had a bath with a shower attachment over and no screen so every time we showered the bathroom flooded……lots of towels were needed to mop up. The robes we had were tatty and didn’t have a belt for either of them. The mini bar gets restocked but only with water and not soft drinks. Air con wasn’t great. The main pool was big and always able to get a lounger, same with the water park. Spa was lovely, the ladies there were very friendly. We booked into the restaurants fine using the app as soon as we got there. Considering it’s advertised as a family hotel there wasn’t a children’s menu in either. On the hotel website it mentions kids buffet corner……this didn’t exist. It also mentioned the ‘happy sweet corner’ which serves delicious pancakes, waffles, cakes etc……this also doesn’t exist. It’s just popcorn, ice cream and a few donuts and muffins shoved into a holder. The adventure park with climbing wall also wasn’t available due to there not being an instructor. As this is peak season you would expect this to be open. The evening entertainment is lacking, an open air cinema screen is great but that’s all they provide. My husband played tennis but you can’t book slots online you have to just keep returning to reception to see if rackets have been returned. A booking system would be so much easier. I feel this hotel could be so much more but is lacking a lot to be classed as 5*

"Great for families"

10.0

A family of 5 and we can not fault this hotel at all. The staff work very hard and nothing is too much trouble for them. Food is amazing and lots of variety. Pools great and plenty of sunbeds. We were in a villa with a private pool and we were extremely impressed. The only 2 things we would say was a let down mini shop could stock a lot more items as you have to get a taxi to the nearest shops and entrainment for family’s in the evening as there is barely any But overall a very good holiday and worth every penny

"Excellent hotel"

10.0

Family of 4 with 2 sporty teens, 16 and 15 years old - stayed 10 nights end of July We highly recommend this resort, the staff starting with manager Anastasia are amazing and are what sets this place apart from its peers. Overall rating 9/10 Food - 9/10 The main restaurant food ( buffet ) is outstanding. Serves breakfast, lunch and dinner A la carte restaurants ( one Italian and one Greek ) are very good Room - 9/10 Recommend the rooms with shared infinity pool. We stayed in 101 which is a large family room. The large infinity pool which you enter from your balcony is shared with 5 other rooms. Beach 8/10 Is nice although pebbles. Water is clear great for snorkelling. Bar at beach serves drinks ( beer and soft drink ) and hot dogs. Possible suggestion to serve spirits and cocktails and more food options. Sports 9/10 Resort has football pitch, volleyball ball, tennis etc. there’s a weekly game of staff v guests football and volleyball. It’s very much looked forward to by guests and staff. Spa 9/10 Had a couple of massages that were very good. 100 euros for an hour massage Entertainment 8/10 Singer or band every evening I wanted to take a moment to personally thank the manager for outstanding care and support she gave to my family and me during our recent stay at Azul Luxury Resort in Halkidiki. From the moment we encountered the initial challenge with the room layout—which, to be fair, was simply a misunderstanding rather than anyone’s fault—you went above and beyond to make things right. Your calm, proactive and compassionate approach made all the difference. You found a work around for my health issue challenges without drawing attention to it. The way you arranged for us to move into two rooms with a shared pool, and later into a beautiful family room, was exceptional. Sharing your WhatsApp so we could stay in touch added such a personal touch, and I’m incredibly grateful for that. Beyond the logistics, what truly made our stay memorable was the warmth and attentiveness of your entire team. While I can’t name everyone, a few stand out for their consistently kind and helpful service: • Alex on the beach, who regularly checked if I needed help and always greeted us with genuine warmth. • The lovely lady who moved from the beach to the restaurant, always cheerful and welcoming. • The tall gentleman at dinner, I believe his name is Nikos, whose smile never seemed to fade. • The energetic lady who worked both dinner and breakfast, full of positive energy. • The wonderful woman at the Italian restaurant, who made our meal feel so special. • The lifeguard who kindly helped bandage my toe. • And of course, Tony, and the Australian buggy driver—both of whom made getting around the resort a real pleasure. My teenage son and daughter especially enjoyed the volleyball and football matches against the staff—they were a highlight of the trip and a great way for them to connect and have fun. Anastasia, your leadership and dedication clearly inspire those around you, and it shows in every detail of how the resort is run. You turned what could have been a difficult start into a truly special family holiday, and for that, we will always be thankful.

"Family friendly resort"

8.0

Lots to do for families. The pool area is not too busy. Always a sunbed at the beach. Italian and Greek restaurants are great. We couldn’t get into either a la carte restaurant for the first few days of our stay. Booking into the restaurants immediately on arrival is a good idea! Buffet, busy but well stocked and there is plenty of good food. Plenty of variety. Breakfast is quiet before 9am, but busy and noisy after 9:30am. The staff are excellent. Very friendly and helpful. They are often under staffed and still remain cheerful! The spa is lovely and the staff are very professional. The waterpark is great for the kids.

"5* disappointment"

4.0

5* Disappointment I am only on day 2 of 6 and already wishing I could pack up and leave. If you are thinking of booking here, do not waste your money. I am vegan because of a serious dairy allergy not an intolerance, an actual allergy. My partner emailed the hotel well before our trip and they replied like they understood. We landed late and reception told us the restaurant was closed but they had prepared plates of food for our room. That sounded great… until it arrived. Four plates stacked on top of each other, food crushed, and right there in the middle was a chicken leg, cheese, coleslaw and every dairy product under the sun. I challenged reception and they denied any knowledge of the emails. My “alternative dinner” was a bowl of green bananas and a grapefruit. Perfect after a long travel day if you are a fruit bat. Breakfast on day one… nothing I could eat. Then a glimmer of hope. Anastasia from staff actually understood. She arranged for me to get a cappuccino upstairs with proper plant milk. Fellow vegans will know why cold soya milk dumped into hot espresso is a crime. She even had the head chef walk me through the food. Except… cheeses labelled with “milk” allergen were apparently “dairy free”. I was not taking chances. Lunch was a dry salad and fries with no dressing. I asked for hummus because they had promised “anything I wanted” but I was flat out refused. Dinner in the buffet… avoid at all costs. Salmon like concrete, fries that had been sat there since breakfast, no chef able to help me, and the allergy awareness from the morning had vanished. The dessert area had no allergen warnings. I asked if anything had nuts and the answer was “I don’t know”. Comforting. Caipirinha from the pool bar was not even close. The bartender said he was out of Cachaça so made some mystery concoction in a plastic cup. Daiquiri upstairs was equally tragic. If you cannot make cocktails, take them off the menu. I certainly do not want my drinks served in plastic cups, and I’m astonished in a world where we are trying to reduce plastic, the amount of plastic they use here! Tried to book the Italian restaurant and was told it was full. Walked past later and it was half empty. Mini bar stocked once on arrival then downgraded to “water only”. When I challenged it I was told cans are not restocked. After complaining again at reception, magically it was restocked. The buffet is more shopping mall food court meets feeding time at the zoo than fine dining. Loud, chaotic, zero ambience. It feels like a kids school dinner hall! Kids run wild in every pool including the ones near the bar. Dining room windows are covered in greasy handprints, balcony glass filthy. It is hard to enjoy a view when you are staring through smears. The pool toilets are grotesque and could rival a festival portaloo on day three. How women can make messes like this is beyond me… maybe this is the type of clientele they are targeting?! If you need to go, save yourself and walk back to your room. Outside the ladies toilets at the pool they’re also storing overflow of drinks and even waste! Even the evening entertainment felt wildly inappropriate for a family hotel. I have seen hen party entertainment in clubs with more subtlety. The “sea view” is a lie unless you count giant water slides and rooftops as scenery. Ok technically it is a sea view on a hillside but come on, who designed this place, did they have it designed by kids for kids? The “upgraded” room has mould / dirt in the shower, broken seals, shoddy grout, water pressure that cannot rinse shampoo without seemingly spending an excessive amount of time for our long hair girls, and one roll of toilet paper. The beach…. Where do I even start with this! The hotel claims theirs a beach bar and snack bar, you get taken down a steep drive in a shuttle (fabulous because that would be some tough walk) instead you get a shack, with ham sandwiched like a badly packed lunch in cling film dumped in an empty snickers box! A public beach feels cleaner and I’ve gotten better service by people walking beaches selling us bottles of water and watermelon! I have stayed in better 3 star Zante 18–30’s hotels twenty years ago. At least they were clean and did not pretend to be something they are not. We have already started leaving the hotel, travelling In taxis at a cost of €20 each way to pay for food elsewhere rather than our 5* star all inclusive. That says it all, especially when we’ve paid for two rooms here at an absolute premium! Only positives are the sun is shining and the pool appears clean. Everything else from allergy safety to service to atmosphere is a complete let down. My only hope for the remainder of the stay, that they don’t hospitalise me with my allergy!

"Far from luxury"

4.0

I stayed at Ajul Luxury Hotel & Spa Resort with my family and young child for a few days im July. While the hotel is recently renovated, it didn’t meet our expectations. The beach is quite far and you have to take a shuttle under the hot sun, often waiting in line like you’re queueing for a bus. Once there, the beach area is underwhelming, especially compared to the beautiful beaches you can find elsewhere in Halkidiki. Breakfast service was chaotic and poorly organized – the staff seemed overwhelmed and couldn’t keep up. We also had issues at the aquapark; there were no inflatable tubes available for the slides, and we had to wait more than 30 minutes to get one. Overall, the hotel has potential but still needs a lot of improvement in both service and facilities.
