Thoughtfully equipped; a great experience and lovely town.

They weren’t kidding when they said the gangplank was steep at low tide. If you can, it’s worth avoiding taking bags down just then. The boat rises again pretty quickly and it’s very well lit if after dark so there’s not usually a need to go down and take everything at the lowest tide. Don’t worry, you won’t regret choosing the barge.

Sandwich is lovely, plenty of restaurants. Barge unique,quarky. Kitchen looked very usable. Perfect for a short stay.

On arrival the code given to us for the car park was incorrect so had to call the marine car park to get new code. Heating concerningly noisey had to turn the thermastat right down as couldnt sleep with the loud noise, which meant we was cold at night. Did message owners re noise, no response, not an issue as was late at night and we solved it. Bedroom had a strange off putting smell, I am a little sensitive with smells so slept in front room which meant early starts due to sunlight from the roof windows and port holes. Sitting on top deck nice, but felt overlooked . Ramp on / off board was very steep, but not a huge issue just a warning to others .

Unique and memorable stay in a river barge. Fantastic location close to town centre. Cosy vibes up top, spacious saloon down below.

Barge access via plank can be steep, especially at low tide, but should not be an issue for most people. Drain water pump comes on as you shower / flush, which is a little loud, but part of the charm and character.

Superb communication and assistance. Beautiful accommodation with a novel, uplifting and enjoyable atmosphere. A great deal of work has gone into presentation. Easy walking access to the beauty of Sandwich and road access to the delights of Deal and Canterbury. Looking to book again. Loved the romance of it.
