" This rustic inn and resort offers comfortable rooms with modern amenities including free Wi-Fi, mini refrigerators, coffee makers, and cable TV. Whitney's inn offers a heated outdoor pool and lounge area with yard games such as ping pong, horseshoes and cornhole. In the summer and fall the outdoor fishing pond is open for guests to enjoy kayaking, fishing and campfires. Breakfast is not offered at Whitney's inn. Dinner is served in the family friendly Shovel Handle Pub Wednesday - Friday from 5:00pm - 10:00pm. Dinner is not offered any other days. Local attractions include Black Mountain Ski area less than 1 mile away and Story Land amusement park less than 4 miles away.Guests are required to show a photo ID and credit card upon check-in. Please note that all Special Requests are subject to availability and additional charges may apply. Please inform of your expected arrival time in advance. You can use the Special Requests box when booking, or contact the property directly using the contact details in your confirmation. Guests under the age of 18 can only check in with a parent or official guardian. A deposit may be required at the property.

The room, the staff, the location were all great.

It is not completely clear to me if an innkeeper stays on site overnight, however, the activities from Black Mountain end of season on Saturday night (which Whitneys does not control) had guests at Whitneys outside making a lot of noise until after midnight and then they carried it into the Inn. Granted the guests are adults and should have been more respectful, however, if there was someone on site to monitor and "enforce" the quiet hours, I believe sleeping would have been better.

A lot of space and close to mtn

The front desk lady couldn’t find my reservation and literally rolled over here eyes when I said I reserved on booking. She called her manager and said I booked from unknown website… I have used booking for more than 18yrs and this is the first time someone called it unknown website…

Overall, the day was good

We stayed in the external building and the ski resort next-door started playing music at the base of the mountain very loud loudly at 7:30 in the morning
