The location

Had someone come do my room door a.few times And the smell of weed

Location was good as it was not even 5mins away from the train station The lass behind the bar is wasted here as she has lovely manners & was left to deal with everything ( customer-wise) they are lucky to have her... There was free parking for guests & it was cheap enough to stay Plenty of tea,coffee,sugar.. but No milk ?? White sheets & white pillow cases & towels etc seemed clean.

Don't get me started.....😡😢🤬 please be patient & read this... ❤️🤍💙 When my friend & myself arrived there were no signs indicating where the reception was (found out it was at the bar). After booking in etc we were told they'd be no evening meal as the Gas was off, & directed to where our room (not shown)as i think she was the only 1 working there & she had to stay in the bar area, was up a couple of flight of stairs. Before going I asked her to confirm I'd booked breakfast & she said we had & served between 7-9.30am Room 5 was our room. Seemed to be a pokey room for 2 but for 1 night would've been ok. Bathroom-it is what it is,not the best, but ok, I suppose. Looking out of the window was a flat roof, but the positive was that I could see my car in the carpark to keep an eye on it. My friend noticed dog faeces on the roof just outside the window & we wandered how it could've got there.. that answer came approx 10mins afterwards.. While we were sitting on the bed sorting through a few of our things, I happened to look out the window & notice a man,on the roof, having a cigarette with a small/medium sized dog, only a few feet away from our window.(which we were later told was the boss).Luckily, neither of us was getting undressed.. we weren't happy & felt very uneasy & a bit violated by this. We agreed to see if we could get another room. Again, Lass was great & said she could only offer us 1 other room, i.e., room 3. Room 3 was even smaller than room 5 with one side of the bed up against a window wall. Radiator was on a slant, tv that was supposed to be a flatscreen tv was very small screen (approx 15-20") (very 1990's) fixed to the wall,high up at the end of the bed & u could hardly see it..audio description was on most channels & couldn't take it off as it wasn't the correct remote for the tv (different makes).

Staff were nice and helpful food was good

Not very clean and tried to find night porter when leaving as we had to go out pub door to exit hotel so we had leave pub door open as nobody around and kept phoning the number.

The facilities needed a bit of refurbishment but the staff especially Shirley and Aga in the dining and Breakfast rooms were excellent. They were so welcoming and friendly and made our visit and enjoyable experience.

The facilities were a little bit dated and needed an upgrade. The TV was very small . And the room needed some decorating. Washbasin had a small crack

The owner was VERY rude to his staff, in front of us and other customers, at least 1 staff walked out, after full on row in the restaurant. We waited over 2 hours for breakfast, which was not edible! The owner said to us, ' I'm closing up bar/restaurant today, I don't need the money, I'll leave a key, let yourself in/out and if you need anything, get it for yourself'. We had a family room - it was dangerous. The windows were broken and would not open. Screws sticking out walls and floor, toilet seat broken. Hair dryer holder broken, with shards of plastic sticking out. Wallpaper hanging off walls. Our room was not cleaned or replenished during our 4 day stay. So many things wrong. Have lots of photos. Bar and restaurant floor/carpet not cleaned in 3 days. It has made me wary of using booking.com.

Room was basic clean .

Booked for my in laws were going to bathgate train station following day on a bus trip . Location was perfect .wasn't told about 19 steps up to room my mother in law has sight issues .room was very small .clean but basic. In morning they had to look for someone to cook their breakfast

Staff and food was amazing.

Being woken up in the wee hours of the morning with people physically fighting resulting in one chasing the other into the residential area saying they were going to break every door down until they found them. I did not go back to sleep after that. A solo traveller visiting family, not a good experience.
