Breakfast excellent, staff friendly and helpful. Spa very good

Room OK but top floor, in recent heat, no air conditioning although a small fan helped. Bath/shower not easy to access, difficult to get in and out with disability. Nowhere in bathroom to place personal items. Hot towel rail in bathroom would not turn off - making the heat situation even worse!

A character property dating back to the 1800s. Very clean and well maintained. Excellent breakfast, plenty of free parking and a lovely swimming pool, large gym and decent pub attached to the main hotel.

A bit of a rabbit warren to find your room (unaided). And disconcerted by the legless horses on the lamp stand!

Location was picture perfect, situated next to a beautiful church in a lovely village. Staff friendly in hotel, spa and pub.

Hotel wasn't very well sign posted. Drove straight past it and if it hadn't been for the fact we knew the Fat Abbot pub was connected, we wouldn't have found the entrance as easily. Room had no windows to open and heat was unbearable. Fan was provided which helped a little.

Convenient location and use of spa facilities if you want them.

Rooms are a bit tired, no air conditioning with limited room supplements.

Set in beautiful countryside, but only a short drive to York where we recommend using the excellent park and ride buses 🚌 The Spa facilities were great

Comfortable and spacious room. Two chairs for relaxing and looking out the French windows. Breakfast was good, plenty of choice.

The shower was a bit awkward over the bath. I had to ask my husband for help in working out how it turned on/off. It was ok once we had fathomed it out!
