The Parsonage Hotel & Spa

This was a comfortable iconic place to stay.

Beautiful location.lovely building. Fantastic view from the room. Spa facilities next-door and pub too. Thai restaurant just a few yards away. Lovely breakfast. SUPERB

Swimming pool, sauna and steam room very good. Pub food was nice with a patio to relax when the sun was out.

Room problems - no fan working in bathroom, high pitched buzzing when the key-card was in the wall slot which meant I could not have it on during the night-time as would not be able to sleep and when waking the room was pitch black if you needed to go to the toilet and trying to find the key-card slot. These issues were reported the first morning before breakfast, the lady at reception said that she would get back to me and never did. The smells coming from the pub kitchen as my room was overlooking the back of the pub where the ventilation was. Shabby bed covers on one side and when lifting the sheet where it was thread-bare, a stain was underneath. Breakfast was a bit of a let down, not much choice and the hot items were poor quality (ie. sausage and bacon), far too much seasoning on the mushrooms. What was totally unacceptable in my opinion and with the people in the pool area as well was that a lady came through with her husband with her outside clothes and shoes on and proceeded to take photos in the pool area and possibly taking a video, not too sure about that, but when I looked at her she just stared back. I reported this to the pool reception who did not seem to be at all bothered and the lady was there quite a while as I had relaxed in the sauna when I first saw her and she was still there when I came out of the sauna. All windows throughout the hotel including my bedroom room (bird droppings) seriously need a clean. Also, very disappointingly when handing back the keys to hotel reception was not asked whether I had a good/enjoyable stay. Unfortunately I was unable to highlight 'the experiences' (face icons) on this review.

The staff were all very friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was excellent, with a huge choice and to a high standard. Great location, very quiet and lovely grounds.

When we opened the door to the room the heat came out and hit you. There was a fan provided but it was very weak and made no difference to the heat in the room. The outside temperature was about 26 degrees so not overly hot. It was almost impossible to sleep because of the heat, the hotel should provide a mobile air conditioner unit at the very least. To add to the heat in the room, the floor to ceiling towel rail was full on. We could not leave the windows open over night as ironically the air conditioning units from the pub next door are quite noisy.

The hotel was well located, plenty of parking. The room was clean and tidy. The staff were professional and friendly, especially Elaine, who we discovered had things in common regarding places we had been to and lived. Not forgetting Natasha too, who looked after us as we stayed late in the bar. If we are ever back in the area, we will definitely book into this hotel again, receiving a warm welcome is surely a positive part of the experience.

Liked everything, the only negative thing, which has absolutely nothing to do with the quality of our experience, we wished we could have had the time to stay another night or two.

Really lovely staff Great location and breakfast Room was very comfortable

First room was dark and damp. Did not justify the price. Was moved and felt like we were in a different hotel. Would definately stay and recommend the room we stayed in. Facilities closed at 7pm so no opportunity to use.
