Everything was awful but not really

Nice clean hotel with friendly staff. Parking was easy and we had a lovely room with a great view of the garden, a comfortable bed and an excellent shower and bath.

Lighting in the room was strange in that the entrance corridor was brightly lit but the main room had only one spotlight. The bedside lamps were also a bit too dim to easily read by.

Wow. What a lucky find after just sticking a pin in a map to find a half way stop over to break a long journey. The food was exceptional. The restaurant and bar are beautifully decorated and the garden is just gorgeous. The staff were very welcoming (even though we arrived early and hadn't thought to ring ahead and ask if that was ok) and the service was brilliant at dinner and breakfast.

The decor in the dining room, the bar area, the beautiful gardens, the exceptional food, the friendly welcome (even though we were early and hadn't thought to ring ahead to see if we could check in early), the service from the staff. A real find. We had booked a small double so if we are lucky enough to return we would go for something a bit bigger.

The hotel was great - clean, peaceful, beautiful surroundings and comfortable......with excellent staff who were really friendly; and did everything they could to help and make our stay. Nothing was too much for them.
