Hotel de Campo Caño Negro

The food here was fantastic! The service was great. We were able to book tours through the front desk and see the beautiful scenery with VERY knowledgeable guides. The surrounding area is rural and the people were very friendly. There is another restaurant close to the property, which is good for a change of pace.

This isn't a complaint, but please be aware that this is cash only. Please be prepared if you didn't catch that during booking.

Location, hygiëne, garden, food

Welcoming place with a nice owner. The rooms are exactly as described. We enjoyed a very good dinner and breakfast. The boot tour was magnificent.

The road is quite bumpy but this is rather normal in this part of the country. We had a cold shower but we forgot to mention it. It is a beautiful place but bug spray is definitely needed.

Great location next the the lake/river. Very good breakfast, good lunch and dinner. Host was able to set up tours.

Parking was tight. Power went out ofter, which meant no A/C. Roon was small with no comfortable chairs.

Wild life around, food in restaurant, staff.

The location and property were amazing with lots of birds and monkeys.

It would be preferable if they took visa, especially because of the remote location (not near ATM’s).

Relaxed place in a nice setting. Small chalets in a well tended garden with a pool and monkeys in the trees. Fantastic for birding with tours on the river both in the early morning and in the afternoon. Many interesting spottings.

Dirt road in bad shape to get there, but it was worth it.

The host Andrea and his staff were great, very welcoming and good communication prior to our arrival. The boat trip he organised for us in the morning was magical and shouldnt be missed, we felt truly blessed. The food in the evening and for breakfast was impeccable, although I felt the evening meal was a little pricey.

When we arrived and were shown to our room, the door was open waiting for us. This inevitably meant the room was full of mosquitos. Whilst I understand there will be mosquitos due to location, we didn't sleep well at all due to the sheer number of them flying about in the room despite our best efforts to get rid of them. The bed had no blanket and only a sheet, I understand it's very warm, but personally, I like to have something on me at night heavier than a sheet. The bed was also very hard and not to my personal preference. There was also no hot water for showers, we tried in the evening and morning and unfortunately it was cold both times.
