Posada Coatepec

we paid through Booking, and had breakfast included, but during check out the lady working at the reception insisted that we didn’t pay and we need to pay for rooms and extra for the breakfast. it took over 15 stressful minutes to figure it out.

I spent 1 night here , this hotel was once the former home of a coffee baron , the hotel has many personal touches , there was a stuffed lion outside my bedroom. The room was very spacious , clean , an enormous comfortable bed , good WiFi signal & terrific shower. There is a lovely court yard with a fountain , a nice place to have a drink. I had an evening meal which was very nice. I enjoyed my stay here & would recommend.

When you take the road backwards from Veracruz to Mexico City, Banderillas is a must for lunch. They have this charming restaurant with great Mexican seasoning. “Las Delicias”. This time was not just the lunch but an enchanting surprise. Inside this town, there is a Posada with the charm of Colonial style. Arches, Bolts, Patios, etc. Everything you expect of a Colonial Building. The staff makes you feel at home and the attention is very personal. Every room has its own special touch. The restaurant is wonderful for breakfast and the coffee is from the area. Great idea to make a stop here, just to enjoy the Posada.

Coatepec is a very small and nice town near Xalapa. There are not many attractions there so you´ll probably spend just one night or two. The place is quiet and full of plants and flowers. The room is large. The mattress is comfortable, the shower has good water pressure. BUT the bathroom has a terrible smell and has no windows. They have free wi-fi but only in the lobby and restaurant. The meals are tasty BUT the service is really slow (even when there were just two tables were taken. I definitely think there´s room for improvement. The staff are kind.

We looked around at 3 or 4 places before settling on Posada Coatepec and I'm glad we did. This is an old coffee hacienda that was converted to a hotel many years ago. We had a king size bed room, way in the back. While a bit dark (maybe they could get some brighter light bulbs), it was a beautiful room, called San Francisco. The bed was big and comfortable, with a nice Lazy Boy chair in the room. The only complaint is there was no WiFi in the room, only out in the lobby area, which was very comfortable.

A lovely old building well preserved and presented provides a great contrast to city hotels i usually have to use. Wifi connection was patchy and slow - only just serviceable. Breakfast was excellent - but slow Coffee in the old courtyard is lovely.

I have stayed several times in this property, but this time the internet was nos available and the personnel could not care less. I think is time to look for an alternative. The hotel is a very nice property, but customer service had deteriorated over time. There was usually space to park in front of the hotel so the valet could take the car, but this time there was none. Internet was not available in the rooms. The restaurante, though, is a great one with quality food.

The Posada Coatepec was recommended to us, however, apart from its grand architecture this hotel was completely over rated. The staff were very unfriendly to the point where we felt uncomfortable and the room was very basic for the price. There are much better hotels at a cheaper rate in Coatepec.
