NIKARA Luxury Beach House

Very very good!

Nice design and nice facilities overall, with super nice swimming pool. The beach is pretty but you can't swim as the waves are really big.

During the night the thunder of the waves of was so powerful that the windows were clattering. On the first day the food was definitely not to any standard. On the second day, Xmas eve, they brought a new chef and it was far better.

The location, right on the beach, the garden, the pool area, the beds are super comfy! The bathrooms are huge

The breakfast was poor, we asked them to take away the breakfast for the Safari, they said yes and then didn’t do it. When we came back from Safari and the day after we ordered the breakfast for a given time and it was not ready. The pool water was totally green. Luxury house is only in the name.

There is a lot to love about the NIKARA (and a few things to improve ). Firstly the location is stunning for a peaceful and relaxing stay. It’s only a short ride to Yala safari too. We stayed for 2 nights (including New Year’s Eve) in the villa with private pool. The room was clean and bed was huge and super comfortable, and it is very private and quiet. The breakfast and food in general was excellent. On New Year’s Eve , the staff organised dinner on the beach with fireworks. They even bought a birthday cake for my husband, which was lovely. The staff here are EXCEPTIONAL, they literally do everything and never stop , they are super friendly and always have a smile ! The beach is stunning and deserted (but not good for swimming) and perfect for relaxing

This place should /could be paradise. But sadly it needs some TLC and maintenance (not just daily cleaning). They also need more staff as when we were there, the small team were doing everything (check in , cleaning , cooking , getting the fresh fish in for New Year’s Eve). So whilst the rooms are clean , there are marks on the walls , rugs etc and the garden / pool of the villa need to be maintained. Same for the main pool area. So it’s not quite the luxury you see in the photos.

This is an excellent location by the sea.

I suggest enhancing the culinary experience to better meet expectations

Lots of character and charm on the beach. Loads of potential and could be really nice if the staff cared.

We prebooked an extra bed which wasn't provided. The beach is beautiful but unfortunately the sea is not safe to swim here. We prebooked a takeaway breakfast for our safari tour. They forgot to do it and then made up stories blaming us and our driver, despite taking our order before we went to bed. No apology and didn't care. Not ideal when you have kids and a 5am start for full day safari. It is the only place in Sri Lank that tried to charge us extra for paying by credit card but agreed not to when I queried it.
