Check in was really easy - I did this online and collected the key from the bar inside the pub. The rooms are in a building behind the pub and the car park, so it was quiet. Lots of parking spaces and easy to get to the city centre. The room was spacious and clean, and had good facilities including tea/coffee, kettle and a small fridge. It had everything you needed for a good night's stay. The bed was also comfy. There is also a communal area with table, chairs etc.

The room needed TLC - flaking paint, cracks in the walls etc

Location is good, 8 minute drive to York centre. Staff in pub really friendly and food nice.

We stayed in room 1 in the lodge which is at the back of the pub. The room was dated and felt like they’d just put any old furniture in there to make it a room. * Bed was broken and uncomfortable but the sheets were clean. (Wouldn’t let me upload the video but the bed liked to rock itself) * Radiator temperature knobs were broken. * Full of extension sockets with no appliances being PAT tested., * Tv that old the picture was distorted and no means to sign into any apps like netflicks. * Windows were old wooden ones with cheap locks screwed to them to keep them closed. * No main light, just an old double wall light with the glass flowery shades that might have been brighter with a clean. * The array of cobwebs dancing along the walls and ceiling made up for not being able to watch Strictly on the old tv. * No curtains, just cheap £12 Argos blinds. * The door code to get into the building is laminated on the wall so you can just look through the window and punch it in. Yes, that’s great when you may of had 1 too many to remember it but as a women I felt it was a bit unsafe as anyone could access the building. We did think about leaving but it was late on in the day and we were leaving early the next morning so just stayed. I booked it originally because Marstons as a chain are usually quite nice to stay in but not in this case.
