Stayed with my daughter of 22 in June. Exceptional service. Impeccable rooms and breakfast. Very helpful. The owners Clelland and Christine provided a very homely and welcoming, but also private stay. We loved it. The breakfast is a highlight. Good beds. Curtains and blankets in matching check pattern. Walk from there to Saxxon was very good. Busstop 10 mins walk, at the distillery.

While the breakfast hamper idea is a good one, we would recommend a toaster in the room to enable hot toast. In fact serving a cold breakfast on a cold morning is not very enjoyable. Cereal, milk, boiled eggs and toast would be great given the facilities are there to make a good quality coffee.

We recently stayed at Butt Lodge in Lochranza and had such a wonderful experience. The lodge itself was absolutely spotless, with fantastic attention to detail throughout. The high-quality teas and coffees were a lovely touch, and the breakfast hamper delivered each morning really made our stay feel extra special. The hosts were incredibly welcoming and attentive from the moment we arrived. They went out of their way to make our 6-year-old feel included and comfortable, which we really appreciated as a family. The location is beautiful, surrounded by stunning hills and peaceful grounds that were perfect for walking and taking in the scenery. It really felt like a relaxing escape showcasing Arran in all its glory. The only thing worth noting is that the road leading to the lodge is quite rough — very much “Scottish off-roading” — and a 4x4 vehicle would definitely make access easier. Overall, we had a fantastic stay and would happily recommend Butt Lodge to anyone looking for a warm, peaceful and memorable getaway.

Gosh, what a beautiful, comfortable place. Clelland and Christine were attentive to every detail and eager to make my stay as rich as possible. The personal connection was the best part for me. Clelland helped me bring my bags in, and they were both wonderful to talk to. They went above and beyond to help me when I was in a pinch for dinner, and Clelland took time to get to know me (I was traveling alone). Christine's breakfast was absolutely delicious and generously portioned. The grounds were gorgeous and somewhat remote. I got to see some of the wildlife from my room.

These are not dislikes or complaints, but there are a couple things it'll be helpful to know. First, the road to the lodge was fairly rugged (Clelland and Christine let me know about that ahead of time). Second, breakfast is brought to your room, so don't expect to engage with other guests while you eat as you might at other Bed & Breakfasts. Obviously just a matter of preference.

The warm welcome and hospitality were top notch. Local whisky, baked goods and snacks upon arrival was a nice touch. The suite was spacious and beyond expectations. It was such a treat to have Arran milk (yummy!) waiting in the suite refrigerator as were the higher-end coffee and tea selections. The bed, pillows and linens were luxurious and ensured a proper, restorative sleep. The shower with local Arran bath products was invigorating. We really appreciated the thoughtful approach to breakfast. The hamper delivered to the suite was a perfect way to do it. Just perfect! Supporting local businesses is very important to us so we appreciated the sourcing of local products. The breakfast was ahhh-mazing! We loved the local Arran cheeses, baked goods and meats, homemade Bircher, yogurt parfait, jams and fresh fruit. Loved the information about the local sources included in the hamper. We enjoyed the thoughtful details about the birds we might find as well as the diverse selection of books in the suite. The property is just gorgeous. Guidance regarding seeing the island was so helpful. We appreciated the tips for our tour. Clelland and Christine are terrific hosts! The tire on our rental car needed replacement during our stay and Clelland used his local contacts to get it repaired on a Sunday! This meant we were able to make our return ferry and get to our next stop without delay. We'd never have managed this without Clelland and Christine sacrificing so much time to help us. We were sad to not have booked a longer stay on Arran and especially at Butt Lodge. We will definitely be returning!

We wish we'd have booked four nights instead of only two nights. This is a location to spend a bit more time.

Wonderful B&B. Everything was thought of, very comfortable suite with big bed, sofa bed made up and really good quality cot bed made up for baby. Highchair also provided which was a bonus. The breakfast hampers were exceptional, with local produce. Loved the novelty of it arriving at our door in a picnic basket. My daughter was obsessed with the Bircher!

There was nothing we would charge.
