Sutton Lodge with Hot Tub

Location of the lodge is the only good thing about this place, avoid it

The lodge was filthy on arrival, furniture and decor is in desperate need of replacing, the decking furniture needs throwing in the skip, very old and worn and the cushions were not only soaking and unusable but must have been off 3 different sets and not suitable for the furniture at all, nowhere to relax outside, the hot tub was absolutely disgusting, filthy and I’m sure someone had shaved their legs in it from previous guests, also the filter area was broken, dog hairs were all over it and not sure if a dog had been in it, water desperately needed replacing, no head rests, the lodge itself very dated, everything falling apart, dishwasher didn’t work, no cleaning supply’s, only glasses and nothing plastic to use outside, the hoover was useless, all the cutlery and dishes etc needed washing in arrival, beds were very uncomfortable and pillows were like paper, 7 guests and not one clothes hanger, the carpets were absolutely disgusting and the whole place is a disgrace, the owners desperately need to address these issues, we complained as soon as we arrived and nothing has been done, definitely not with paying good money for and you heed to avoid at all costs, we have stayed in a number these lodges and this was the most expensive and the worst we have stayed in!

The lodge is nice and spacious (5 adults) and in a lovely position. It's opposite a small lake which makes it feel quite private. The site is a good location and there's plenty of places to visit by car.

Whilst the bathrooms were spotless, beds changed and it had been hoovered, the lodge could do with a deep clean. There was a lot of thick dust in places and cobwebs, decking needed sweeping (it's under trees so lots of leaves), the glasses were filthy. It's much better now as we sorted most of it.

Allerthorpe is a lovely site with a great golf course, driving range, and restaurant. The lodge is in a great location and is large inside. The Host&Stay company were lovely and welcoming, and the check-in and check-out was great.

Shame the pizza place is currently closed, and the onsite shop has gone - might be worth taking the signs down for them! The owner needs to update / replace / repair several things, as: - No hangers at all in the lodge - No headrests in the hot tub - We had a dirty towel in the main bedroom - Dirty kitchen cupboards - No grill rack so couldn't use it - The bin was broken in the cupboard - Multiple lights didn't work throughout the lodge - Main bedroom shower got stuck on 'boiling' temperature and needed fixing - Main bathroom toilet seat was loose - The outdoor seating had the wrong cushions and was really uncomfortable - could do with a table and chairs instead so that the outdoor space was usable I could name more - but if you're going to hire out the lodge at least fix things that need fixing and make it usable guests. The Host&Stay company were lovely and welcoming, and the check-in and check-out was great - but they were unable to help with the above as its an owners lodge (apart from the shower as someone came to help after I'd fixed it).

The Large Open plan lounge area was great . Location good overlooking a small lake in a quiet spot

The garden furniture outside was not comfortable , a dining set outside would have been ideal

Good location, nice hot tub, good internal layout, comfortable beds, good cooking facilities, large fridge/freezer. Close to local shops and pubs.

No hot tub towels or gowns, crockery had not been cleaned properly or inspected. Only 2 sharp knives provided, making meal preparation difficult without re-washing each knife. Only 2 clothes hangers for possibly 6 guests! En-suite shower impossible to turn off as the handle is stiff and too close to the wall. Rubbish left on the deck. Deck furniture cushions mostly missing, those that were there were wet and dirty, making the deck unusable in fine weather.

The lodge was clean and tidy we had loads of room and there we 8 of us

The Lodge itself was beautiful, very clean and spacious with plenty of storage space, really impressed with the kitchen area and utility room, very quiet site and lovely view from the decking area. Kids enjoyed feeding the ducks every morning, they came up to us looking for food. Everything you need was in there, and great heating system so we didnt get cold at all, if anything too hot ( January stay) we didnt see any staff really as we arrived late due to traffic, key was left for us in a lock box.

Only things that can be improved is the beds where so hard, we all had sore backs in the mornings, the pull out sofa had stains on the mattress and is so thin, luckily my daughter put the sofa cushions under the sheet to make it more comfortable. The hot tub was not maintained during our stay, there was a little chlorine pot floating about in it but was empty by day 3 water looked gross and murky, as its the main selling point definitely should be a focus for future guests.
