"Amazing"

10.0

Beautiful location. Lots of steps up but absolutely worth it. Staff are all fantastic and really helpful. Wawan helped us organise everything and our jungle trek guides were brilliantly informed. Great food throughout the stay. I think it's at the higher end of price for Bukit Lawang but definitely worth it. We even watched Orangutan from a distance while we sat in the bar area!!

"Fantastic location and amazing experiences in the jungle"

10.0

Amazing location with a fantastic view over the mountains and the jungle. You get extremely close to nature in a peaceful and tranquil environment. We enjoyed the terraces and facilities. We saw many monkeys and even saw one orangutan from the terrace. It was perfect for our family of 6 and we felt extremely welcome and well taken care of by the friendly and helpful owner and staff. They went out of their way to make us feel comfortable and have a wonderful time. They even played badminton with our son. The trips arranged were fantastic with great professional guides who with respect for nature showed us the wonders of the jungle. We saw 6 six different types of monkeys, monitor lizards, various gekkos, various snakes, squirrels, frogs, ants, caterpillars. We also got to see orangutans up close on multiple occasions on each trek - from babies and mothers to a big male. We would also recommend tubing on the river. We feel grateful to have such wonderful experience ❤️

Nothing. It was great to be so close to nature 😉

"Best orang utan jungle trek and nature experience ever. Better than Borneo."

10.0

We came during Hari Raya, the staff were stretched but did a magnificent job to look after us and make us welcome. Thanks guys. Gary you did a great job organising our treasured trip. The best thing is the nature starts on site, everyday something new! On our jungle trek our guides were brilliant at helping and managing our kids navigate the tricky sections. Thanks Mr.Wong.

"Wonderful accommodation and trekking company"

10.0

I can say is wow. We stayed in the waterfall bungalow. The view of the jungle and waterfall were stunning and we felt like we were right in the jungle. And all We could hear was the sounds of the wildlife. We were lucky enough to have the silver leaf Lingus play in the trees right in front of our balcony. Each day orangutans were in trees very close to the resort, we watched them from the resort. Food and service of all staff was exceptional. The decor and bungalows are beautiful and are suited to the environment. On the Rocks arranged a 2 night trek for us, which was a wonderful experience. Our guide, Ling is one of the best guides I have ever had. Dan our cook made us some delicious meals. The trek waa through the extremely beautiful scenery of the jungle and we were very lucky to spot plenty of orangutans and gibbons. Long was so caring and ensured that we were enjoying the trek as well as advising of hazards and where to go slowly etc. The meals we had packed each day were delicious, we had lovely fruit platters for morning tea and tasty noodles and chicken for Lunch during the trek. I rate On the Rocks bungalow and Treks very highly

From start to finish the staff and owner help us with all aspects of this trip. we are a retired couple who had this on their wish list. I can only say that we have come away with the best memories which will stay with us for a very long time. If you want to see & feel nature at its best speak with Wawan or Gary and they will answer all your questions and help to organise your trip of your life time.

"We were treated like family."

10.0

We were treated like family at on the rocks, wawan and his team were so helpful and friendly that we instantly felt at home. I cannot recommend staying here enough. We did multiple treks with Wong and he was wonderful, so much information to share but also never even felt like he was a guide. Treks can be suited for your fitness level but you are almost guaranteed to see orangutans no matter where you go. The restaurant was also delicious.

"We’ll come back in dry season"

7.0

Right up in the jungle, several varieties of monkeys and birds make daily appearances. It’s a short hike into Gunung Leuser national park where the orangutans hang. Nicely maintained. Friendly staff, they arrange day and overnight trekking into the jungle, and carried our luggage from our drop off point in town up to the lodge.

December is rainy season and the property was in off season mode, refurbing some bungalows and working on landscaping projects. Staffing for the guests was limited - there wasn’t a chef on site while we were there, but manager Joe was able to provide breakfast and nasi goreng on request. The resort is a couple hundred steps up above the river running through town (after crossing on a suspension bridge), where there are other options for meals. Definitely not appropriate for people with mobility issues.
