The Cloud Resort

If you read this review, please book this place asap!! This place is amazing in some many ways. The food was excellent, the view amazing and the rooms perfect. We stayed here for two nights and almost cancelled our hotel in Ella just to stay here a bit longer. So relaxing and so mind blowing. Rooms are clean and modern. Loved them! The host was the best! Spoke perfectly English, friendly and communication was very easy. The same with the staff. We travelled as a family of 6 (4kids) and the kids did not want to leave the place. The breakfast was stunning. Never seen my daughter eat so many banana pancakes before. They also cooked dinner for us. The location of the resort is a bit far from the city of Kandy, but for us that was not a problem.

We were lucky enough to stay at The Cloud Resort as our first stop in Sri Lanka. This place is not just a hotel, it is an experience. Our favorite place to stay in Sri Lanka by far. We can't rate it highly enough. We stayed in the King's Cabin. The room is spacious and comfortable. The views are more amazing than the photos, and it was breathtaking to wake up in the morning to the nature and sunrise in the hanging bed. Even though there are multiple units on the property, it felt private and relaxing. What makes the stay truly the best was the staff who added a personal touch to the whole experience. Inthizar, the property manager, was out of town, so we were welcomed by his brother, Ahmed. Ahmed took us around the local area including a beautiful tea factory, grocery, and local spice shop (we love to cook). He also suggested beautiful and relaxing walks, shared some local history and their passion for supporting the local community, and truly went over and above anything we would have ever expected to help make our stay unforgettable. The rest of the staff was just as amazing. Amjaad, the service manager, was incredibly friendly, and no request was too small for him. Zulfi, the chef, crafted the best custom meals, taking into account our dietary preferences (vegan). The food was not just the best food we had throughout our trip in Sri Lanka, but some of the best we've had ever. Zulfi is a master, and the meals felt truly made with love using local ingredients and methods. If the Michelin guide was in Sri Lanka, it would feature this property! From the hearty welcome to fond farewell, everyone made this place special.

We had a lovely stay and felt genuinely welcomed by the owner and his team. They were extremely kind and helpful from the moment we arrived—the owner even invited us to visit a tea factory, which was a thoughtful touch. On arrival, the team helped park our TUK TUK and carried our luggage to the room, which we really appreciated after a long journey. The food was absolutely delicious, and it was a real plus to be able to enjoy dinner and breakfast directly in the room—both meals were excellent.

The property doesn’t offer Wi-Fi, which can be a bit inconvenient these days, especially when trying to plan your next steps or stay in touch with family. It would also be great if they offered the option to buy wine or beer with meals. The hot water was a bit inconsistent, so we ended up taking quick showers.

Our favourite stay in Sri Lanka. A perfect 2 nights at this amazing resort. We throughly enjoyed our time here. We came after a busy time with trips in Ella and it was the perfect place to relax with gorgeous views. All the staff were so friendly and accommodating to whatever we needed. The food was great and catered for my partners gluten free allergies which was really appreciated. The room is great, had a comfortable bed, a fridge, space to eat and deck chairs to use on the decking too to enjoy the view from outside. Whilst we preferred to relax in our room mostly give the short period we stayed here, there is also the option to do a number of complimentary trips to a spot for sunset, the nearby tea factory etc if you wish.

Very little to say really only that we would have appreciated additional water coming at mealtimes given the remoteness of the property meaning it’s not so easy to fetch yourself. Having said that this was swiftly provided upon request.

The owner of the hotel took care of us even before arrival, making sure we will arrive safe. The hotel itself has breathtaking views, you really feel like walking in clouds. The hotel team makes sure all you request are handled quickly and efficiently. The rooms are very spacious, and some of them have absolutely stunning viewing decks that allow you to enjoy the view while having dinner. The location of the hotel makes sure it is absolutely quiet, and you will be undisturbed, but you need the car/taxi to get there.

I had a perfect stay at The Clouds Resort Kadugannawa. The location offers a stunning view—absolutely breathtaking and peaceful. Every detail of the resort was just right, making it a truly relaxing experience. A special mention to Amjaad for his excellent service—friendly, attentive, and always willing to help. The owner was also very involved and genuinely cared about guest comfort, which made us feel well looked after. Great service, beautiful surroundings, and a warm atmosphere. Highly recommended!

That was one of the most amazing and unordinary stay in my life. And working in a tourism I’ve been staying in many hotels all over the world. The view from the room is awe-inspiring. The air here is so clean, fresh, and filled with the scents of flowers and trees that you can't get enough of it. I was sitting on the balcony for several hours, unable to take my eyes off the views of the mountains around me. The room itself was very comfortable to stay in, excellent bed linen and pillows gave me a feeling of comfort while sleeping. The manager of the property Inthizar was very hospitable, showed us the entire territory of the hotel, told us the story of its creation, that many things in the interior were made by his father's hands. In the morning, he took us to the tea factory (which works here for more than 70 years already), where we had a fascinating tour of the tea production and tasting of various varieties of tea. Then he took us to the local market, where we bought fresh fruits. It was a pity to leave the hotel, one night is not enough to enjoy all the charm of living in THE CLOUDS BTW, The drive from the center of Kandy took us around 50 minutes, the navigator finds the location without any problems, the entrance is very convenient
