Very warm and caring family, makes you feel absolutely at home! I loved everything from how clean the place was to how well thought through the room is- it has everything you need!

My only regret was not being able to stay here longer!

We enjoyed our two night stay at Yolo Lovely Cottage with our kind , gentle hosts. It was great to be met at Ella railway station by the host with his tuk tuk who then took us up into the hills away from Ella ‘s hectic centre for some peace in this delightful home stay. We appreciated the fridge in our room and having hot water showers . The view from the veranda was stunning. Our Sri Lankan breakfasts were huge with so much fruit, pancakes, hoppers, juice etc. Impossible to eat it all! We also loved our evening meal of several delicious curries and rice. Thank you

The hosts were an amazing and welcoming family who went above and beyond to assist us with everything we needed. We especially loved enjoying a delicious breakfast on the terrace, overlooking the serene valley - it felt like being immersed in nature. Highly recommended for anyone planning a stay in Ella!

Had the best time in Sri Lanka here! The host family are so friendly and kind, doing everything they can so that we are happy. Met the entire family, including the dog! Nice room with terrace, where we had great breakfast and perhaps the best dinner in Sri Lanka! The owner arranged scooter, tuktuk whenever we needed and gave great instructions and recommendations for hikes etc. Great memory in Sri Lanka!

That I had to leave

Sat on the train writing this and genuinely feel sad to have left this place. Felt like a home away from home (with better food and views). The whole family are so so kind and we felt like and extension of their family during our stay. The accommodation is lovely with your own separate bedroom and bathroom (even mini fridge) with the most beautiful terrace overlooking the hills. We had some of the best food of our whole trip here. The breakfasts were huge and delicious and they were very flexible with timings so we could get out early for walks! We also did a cooking class with the family which was a highlight and learnt how to cook so many dishes! The son gave us a tuktuk ride to the beginning of our walks and to the train station at 0630am! (and even found out for us that the train was running from the next town instead) We also rented a scooter for the day which was a great way to explore the surrounding area and they gave us lots of pointers about where to go! Cannot fault this place at all. If you are lucky enough they have availability on your dates, definitely don’t hesitate to stay!

The food was so good, nothing will compare!

Great stay at Yolo Lovely Cottage in Ella. The hosts were the sweetest family who helped us with everything we needed, whether that be pick up from Ella town, rental of a scooter or recommendations of places to visit in the area. We loved our delicious breakfasts on the terrace looking down into the valley Highly recommend if staying in Ella

Ella is high in the mountains therefore the room got quite damp at times so it helps to have the fan going
