Great location. Really well furnished and decorated. Quiet. Comfortable.

The plumbing, particularly in the shower, needs attention.

"A stone's throw from steam locomotives!"

10.0

Very close to the station. Could see and hear the steam locomotives. Peaceful. Lodge had everything you need. Including Raid spray against the mozzies! Comfy beds, spacious lounge and well appointed kitchen. Only stayed two nights but would be perfect for longer. Washing machine, freezer, wine fridge...home from home. Lovely countryside and walks from the lodge, along the railway. Plenty of birds, hares and foxes. And very helpful and friendly staff (esp Hannah) who were easy to get hold of.

"Steam train heaven"

10.0

Peaceful, not crowded. Could see trains from our lodge and when trains allowed could travel to Alton and even London if you changed trains !

Didnt realise Watercress line closed Mon & Tue (our fault we missed seeing it when planning timetable)

"Great location, comfortable and clean but let down by kitchen equipment."

7.0

Great location. Well furnished and comfortable. Unfortunately, we arrived on the Friday evening when the site had run out of gas. Hannah worked throughout the evening to ensure that gas was delivered to the site the following morning - we were refunded for the Friday night's inconvenience as there was no heating and no gas for cooking!

The kitchen could have been better equipped. There was a full size dishwasher but barely enough crockery for 6 people. There was only one useable frying pan and all the other saucepans were either broken or rusty. It was impossible to cook a meal with this equipment. We left the pans out for housekeeping with a message that they needed replacing due to being a health hazard! We also had to call out housekeeping on the Friday night as there was insufficient bedding left for our party, even though we had confirmed the details on booking and had been assured that there would be enough bedding for 6!

"Very lovely lodge and has potential just a couple of things that could do with working on."

6.0

Lovely location and spacious lodge.

The smoke alarm was dodgy and constantly woke us up in the middle of the night it would go off for hours and was unable to switch it off. The kitchen had a lack of cooking pans and trays which made it hard to cook anything. We opened the bbq to find it was mouldy and had not me cleaned and this was the same for all of them. We woke up a couple of mornings to find large amounts of ants on the floor that had crawled under the door. The lodge was clean from a far eye but when you actually look close table tops were dusty bed side draws were dirty and bed sheets had marks on them.
