Montrose Watertower

Amazing property, very clean & comfortable. Host was brilliant! Working in the area so the location was perfect.

This is a little gem of a stay. Hosted by Dag, who welcomed us into the property, showed us around, then poured us a welcome dram..... The property is so warm and well laid out. Lots of little touches, it has everything you need to just lock yourself away and relax.

A beautiful, quirky, historic building whose restoration was an obvious labour of love for the owner. Dag was so welcoming and made it clear that this was our home away from home. We originally planned to make it our "base" to explore the area... but it was so cosy that we changed some of our plans to spend longer enjoying the tower

Views were great over the area. Bed comfortable. Host was polite and helpful. The building is beautiful - and with a bit of TLC could be absolutely stunning.

The description did not really match what you got. Claims to have 2 bathrooms on one site and 2 1/2 on another, but actually has 1 bathroom and a separate toilet - not what we were expecting at all. Would never use the lift - appears downright dangerous running up the outside of the property. No fire escape available. The so called balcony doesnt meet safety standards - relies on an internal gate to bolt, otherwise you can open the door and simply step out and fall 50 feet, and the roof terrace (which it is not) is about 1 1/2 feet wide walking area around the slopped roof, with absolutely nothing to stop you tripping and falling off the top of the roof (some 65 feet). Wouldnt recommend walking around the roof as so dangerous. Two bedrooms had no hanging space, and only an old drawer unit to put things into - we lived out of our suitcases for the entire 9 days. We dont drink alcohol but there was lots in the property. Breakfast was included, but unfortunately some of the items were very out of date (cereal by a year!), or already opened, with no idea as to when that happened etc so we purchased our own. Host distils his own booze -ok if you like the smell, but not pleasant. Electricity cables all over the place and car port more like a dumping/storage area. There are some serious safety issues here - please be careful.

Dag couldn't have been a better host. The property was well supplied with complimentary food and drink. The watertower is quirky but we loved it. As did our dog.
