The Kanuka Cabin

Loved the location, stunning view from inside and outside the room. The cabin itself is great and there were no bugs despite its isolated and outside location. Hot tub and outside shower were super good as well. Hosts were really nice too, they accomodated to our requests/needs really well. Overall great stay.

Nothing really, everything was great.

Beautiful outlook across the snow capped mountains when standing up inside. Sturdy well built cabin with double glazed windows. Nice hot shower with plenty of water. Good linen. Plenty of power points.

The atrocious weather probably coloured our experience but I did think the small vase of dying Daphne probably said it all. There is no key to the cabin. The view from the chairs on the deck was almost nonexistent blocked by tall heavily planted Kanuka. I obviously didn’t study the photos or description well enough as I would never have booked had I realised the bathroom with toilet was outside the room along the deck. A definite challenge in winter especially in rain and wind and not at all pleasant during the night. The spa definitely needs turning off at night because of the vibrating drone. Unfortunately this wasn’t obvious until we went to bed. That meant braving the wind and rain and getting on hands and knees to find the plug under the deck. We had to unplug it as we couldn’t find the on/off switch. The cabin bedroom is tiny, just wide enough for the bed and two small side stools. We had to repack and leave most of our stuff in the car. We don’t watch much TV but if you do there isn’t one.

Nothing to not like really! I wish there was a lock on the inside for peace of mind while sleeping, that’s all 😊

No washcloths for the shower, proximity to other cabins made for a bit of noise but not much

The location was secluded exactly what we were after, spotless cabin with lux finishes. Enjoyed the spa pool, outdoor shower and views of the mountains.

No lock on the door, feeling unsettled on the first night. No communication from the host requesting a late checkout. Instead a disgruntled old white man with an overseas accent was yelling angrily from the front gate at 10.10am “Did you know that check out is 10am - I need to clean the cabin” as we were about to load our car with the baggage leaving a bad taste of our experience.

Location was absolutely breathtaking, loved that we could see animals out and about while we walked around. The spa was wonderful and the room was surprisingly warm and cosy considering its winter! We came for my husband’s birthday and was the icing on the cake of our trip! Great attention to detail too, like robes, slip ons, chair/tables that were easy to manoeuvre around for whatever you need! Perfect! Location, Vibe, Hot tub and cute lil cabin!
