Really friendly and helpful owner! - free (cold) water refills! - the AC was amazing and much needed after a day in the sun - close to a ton of great restaurants - impeccably clean!

We had a perfect stay here - the location is great on the sunset side of the island and Darren is always on hand for help and great chats. He couldn’t have done more for us and even took our bags to the boat for our onward travel. He has great restaurant recommendations and clearly puts a lot of effort into making his guests feel at home. The rooms are very clean, great a/c and a stocked mini bar that you pay for at the end! The area is great for chilling out and you can hire bikes next door.

Genuinely couldn’t fault anything about our stay - have already recommended to others heading to Don Det.

Darren was a brilliant host, good communication before, met us at the ferry and was extremely helpful throughout the stay. The rooms are large, clean and more than adequate, even a well stocked mini bar!! Only time in Laos! Would 100% stop there again if in Don Det and would have no hesitation recommending to friends!.

I very rarely leave reviews but after staying here, I wouldn’t forgive myself for not leaving a 10. The host Darren is one of the most helpful and down to earth people I have ever met. He is on hand to help with anything and everything, giving all his tips from loving on Don Det for 20+ years, an absolute hero! The property was clean, comfortable and spacious, having everything you need to enjoy your time on the island. Having A/C for us made the experience much more comfortable with the weather being so hot. This place is an absolute must stay!

Darren the Aussie who runs the homestay is an absolute delight - he’s so helpful and knowledgeable on the area and travelling in general. He picked us up when we arrived and dropped our bags off for us when we left too! Helped us to exchange currencies and told us where to visit. The rooms themselves were clean and comfy with good A/C.
