Moon By Night

Exceptional host who was always at hand and helped us sort out onward travel to Siem Reap. Location is good on the west of the island, room is spacious and clean, has air conditioning though could be better (still had to sleep on top of sheets), fridge is in top working order.

As mentioned above, air conditioning wasn’t powerful enough for the heat, and the pillows are too big

Amazing experience. Helpful owner and staff. The room was very clean and quiet with all the essentials, especially the AC! Amenities also included a fridge, kettle and cups for a cuppa and a cupboard. Thanks for having me, Darren!

There were some problems with restaurant, but hotel is quite new, it will a while to learn how to work with western tourists.

Darren is an exceptional guest taking care of every detail Tour operator and best places advisor, luggage manager, post booking checking you have not forgotten anything, free taxi and super nice. Bungalows comfortable, with good air conditioning and clean. Super location.

Not a direct access to the Mekong ( 10 meters...) and no coffee in the room. The real negative was the bedding and especially the pillows very, very hard.

The accommodation is very solidly built. It has high ceilings keeping the room cool along with super efficient aircon and a fan - an absolute must in this heat. You can hear no noise at all from the neighbouring rooms or outside. There is also a full size efficient fridge full of beers & cider & soft drinks. It's not always possible to get such cold beer on the island. There is excellent coffee available in the mornings and a restaurant diagonally opposite for breakfast (my favourite - delicious Laos pancakes) they even delivered a shake for me to drink on the veranda. The owner Darren is an Australian who speaks fluent Laos. He’s super helpful and always on hand to answer any questions. He even helped with a pick up from the port. The Wifi was also excellent which was great as we had a bit of work to do. The garden is great for sundowners - you not only get a view over the river but also it's very interesting to see the activity on the dirt track & the locals going about their daily lives. It's far enough out of the main hub (which was never that busy) to be super quiet and relaxing & close enough to have a choice of many restaurants/bars within just a few minutes walk. A fabulous stay!

I liked everything. I got a food poisoning in Don Det the first night when I stayed at another Guesthouse. 2 days later I suddenly moved here at Moon by Night (a comfortable and clean place) and I could relax, sleep and get my energies and health back. The room, the bathroom and the bed are very comfortable, clean and there is a fridge and air con. The owner is very friendly and helpful. The sunset from the garden is amazing.
