Better to pay in dollars if you have it. I was happy to pay in Kip as I’m coming to the end of my time in Laos but just watch the exchange rate It is expensive for solos compared to other places on the island but you pay for the high standard room so for two it is good value for what you get While very quiet, the AC and some of the plumbing can be noisy during the night

If you look for a bit more comfort then just a hostel this is the perfect place to stay. Nice and big bungalows in a quiet location. You can easily rent a bike and go around the island. But the most important part about this place is Darren - I have rarely seen someone so incredible helpful. He is always there to help and he can organize all the trips you want and alongside you get some interesting insights on the island etc.

If you want to be picky: a bit a cozier light would have been nice.

Darren was extremely friendly. The location was great, just a short walk out of the busy area. There's a ton of cute sunset bars within 3 minutes of walking. Definitely worth it!

The Guesthouse is clean and the room well equipped with aircon, shower room and fridge fully stocked. Easy access from the arrival pier at Don Det Head. The owner is fine and helpful.

Nothing to mention, everything was fine.

Amazing place to stay with an excellent view. We spent 5 nights and wished we could have stayed longer. The aircon is cool and very quiet, Darren is an absolute gem who is happy to help in any way possible, and loves a laugh and a good chat. Not right in the center, so you don't hear any noise from the bars, but you can reach restaurants in a one minute walk, and the sunrise side within a 15 minute walk. Internet is good but varies (I was getting ranges of 30-60mb/s), no issues streaming it all.

Don Det in general has an issue where it takes a while to load an internet connection, but once it's started loading stuff it's fine

Great quiet location. Plenty of bikes for rent. Darren had lots of great advice about where to visit, places to eat and organized tours and transport for me.

We loved our stay here so much we added one extra night. Darren was a fantastic host- very attentive and had great recommendations about things to do and places to eat. By talking to him we gained good insight into life in Don Det. We enjoyed a spacious, clean room with a big bed, beautiful views of sunset over the river, hammocks, a fridge and a good shower. Darren also offered pick up from the ferry, and he met us there with our luggage when we were leaving.

Probably one of the nicest places we have got in South East Asia is even more so when you factor price. Lovely new rooms with great aircon and very comfortable beds made for a pleasant night. Owner, Darren, it was a pleasure staying with him. Amazing guy super friendly picked us up at the port and helped organise bikes for us to get over to Don Khon. One of our favourites to stay in and can see how you would end up staying longer
