Don Som Riverside Guesthouse

Everything about my stay in Don Som was perfect! The communication from Sander even before I arrived was amazing and so helpful. While I was there he also provided endless information about how to get around, and about Laos itself. It's a really nice relief from travelling and I'd recommend everyone to go there on their travels and spend time with these great people. Make sure to book more time than you think you'll need because you'll never want to leave! Special shoutout to Nangnoi who gave us the best cooking class and was always around to help :) The facilities, location and company made this easily the best place I have stayed during my travels and I cannot wait to return.

Great quiet place, friedly owner, directly at the Mekong, special experience at the untouristic island.

Lovely guesthouse by the Mekong, Tanoi and Sander really built a jewel on this beautiful island of Don Som ! Food is delicious and you can also attend a cooking class. In addition to the comfortable rooms and beds, the nice garden and the chill common spaces, the hosts are absolute loves, most generous and friendly ones one could hope for. Perfect to slow down and relax ! You'll only wish you stayed longer !

Everything was perfect. The owners are the nicest people on earth, the food is probably among the best in whole South East Asia and the location only allows you to completely calm down and chill. 10/10

Honestly can’t name a thing.

Perfect place to escape from the touristic Don Det ! No Wi-Fi , only the Sun, the Mekong and delicious food. Possibly the best guesthouse in Laos !

The location is excellent overlooking the river and some of the many small islands located in the river with the small rapids as well. Very good choice on the menu for breakfast and other meals. An added bonus of the area were the beautiful green rice fields fed by the water being pumped out of the Mekong. It is rare to find green rice fields during the dry season. Of course Tanoi and Sander are wonderful hosts.

This is a small style resort with all clean facilities. it’s calm and ideal for relaxation, the view for the river is beautiful and so is the sunrise. The owner Sander and his wife made us feel welcomed from the very first minute we arrived. they looked after us throughout the whole time and helped with our (heavy) bags. We recommend and would come back again. the food they serve is of very good quality and sizes of the meals are also very reasonable.

there didn’t appear to be any alternative places to eat or drink nearby. it also would have been nice with some chicken on the menu due to not eating pork.

Be prepared for isolation-its an amazing location. Very restful and relaxing. I was sad to go. Everyone including the locals were so welcoming.

Leaving

Wonderful place off the beaten tracks on the 4000 Islands. Great just to walk around on the island. Super restaurant with local food. And not to forget: Very kindly and helpfull staff. Highly recommended!
