Kandy Rivers Edge Nature Resort

The staff was very welcoming and warm. The rooms were very clean and nice, very spacious. The restaurant has a lot to choose from which is useful as the hotel is far from any main street. The view out of the rooms is incredible, definitely one of the best that we had. We loved playing pool and singing karaoke, thank you!

I stayed at Kandy River Edge Nature Resort and had a pleasant experience. The location is excellent, right next to a beautiful river flowing through the hotel. The customer service and hospitality were commendable, the food was good, and the rooms were comfortable. I would recommend this place to others.

Its facing the Mahaweli River and atmosphere is amazing. Friendly Staff. The owners are living in the premises and looking after the guests. food is excellent. When visiting Kandy again, this will be the place.

The room was very clean and check in was easy once we found someone to check us in. In fairness our train was delayed as we were a bit late. The wifi was terrible, not such a big deal, but it made it hard to confirm our travel plans for the next day and access things like currency converter apps. The property is quite far from the main road, so it's tough to get a tuk tuk into the main part of town for sightseeing. Also, we had our worst meal in Sir Lanka at the hotel restaurant. We ate dinner there as we arrived so late. My husband had a chicken burger that was more like chicken jelly. When he questioned the staff about it, they brought out the whole packet of very unappetising frozen chicken patties. I ordered the fried rice and it took them almost an hour to make. They said it was because they made everything fresh, but the chicken burgers were definitely not fresh. They did take the burger off the final bill. Overall, the property reasonably comfortable.

The view from our room was spectacular as you can see Kandy Lake perfectly and there is so much nature, around that area. The breakfast was varied and delicious but pre-prepared so if you do not go down at around 8am you end up eating cold food. Location is far enough away from Kandy City to feel like you are not in the hustle and bustle and it feels like you are nowhere near a City at all. Only a short taxi/tuk tuk ride away.

We had a few issues, some of which were resolved but with not much in the way of an apology. Our main frustration is, that upon arrival we were told that our room had been upgraded to one with a balcony. No additional cost was mentioned at this time so we believed this to be complimentary, but before checking out we were told that it would cost an additional 30USD. It felt dishonest to offer us the upgrade without mentioning that there was a price attached to it at the outset. We have received upgrades in the past from other hotels which have always been on a complimentary basis or if there was an additional charge it is disclosed up front so we could make an informed choice about whether to take the upgrade. The toilet seat snapped in half whilst my daughter was on the toilet. We noticed two cracks either side on arrival but thought it wouldn't give way under the weight of a 3 year old. Fortunately she was not injured and the seat was changed but no 'sorry' as would be expected. Other issues: Shower head was broken and did not stay in place. TV was not working. Air con unit on balcony was spitting out a lot of water making the balcony unsafe for us and our children to enjoy. Room smelt a bit damp and it was not cleaned/bins emptied on one of the 3 days we stayed. There was no 'make my room' signs to hang on the door and nobody told us that we needed to mention that we wanted to have our room cleaned/leave the key with reception and inform them we want our room cleaned. I'm not sure if this is common in Sri Lanka, but it is very unusual for us.

This place is a hidden gem in Kandy. The resort is private and quiet. The view is beautiful. We loved everything. Food/breakfast was delicious. Host and staff are wonderful and helpful. Kandy town and other tourist attractions are easily accessible by tuk-tuk. We used PickMe app which was easy. Highly recommend this place.
