"Beautiful property, but make sure you get the view that you bought"

8.0

The Royal Is exquisite with beautiful architecture and lots of amazing details. It really is a work of art. The staff is very friendly. There are lots of food options, but they are quite pricey. It never seemed very crowded though there were a lot of people there and people with the day passes left early in the afternoon. We loved swimming in the lagoon, and that was never crowded. The water is incredible, and the beaches are well maintained like the rest of the park. My favorite place was the dig. The aquarium and the Atlantis ruins and the artwork and the statues are incredible. Nobody’s wandering around at night so that’s a good time to explore. I applaud their programs to assist marine life. My only complaint is that I paid a premium price for the water view. We were on the 18th floor, but the large suite next to us had a balcony that jutted out so we could only see the beach and not the water park. Still a gorgeous view but seeing the Mayan temple from above is pretty cool. I know this because I had that view on my last trip there. They should charge less for those few rooms that have the obstructed view. I was quite disappointed not to share that with my granddaughter and will not go back again. So if you paid for a water view, make sure when you check in that it is not an obstructed view and you are on a high enough floor.

"Atlantis from a distance but not up close"

6.0

The pictures are certainly better from a distance than the hotel itself up close. I was less than impressed with the property overall. Actually, I was expecting more from the Bahamas but once away from the property the area was not that nice. I certainly would not feel comfortable walking around Nassau by myself.

"Alantis Paradise Island, Bahama's"

8.0

The experience on property was good, lots of restaurants and activities. The beaches and pools had not been overcrowded and seemed like everything was good sized to handle the quests in a satisfactory way. The food I thought was average and overpriced.

"Horrible experience they stole my money and my reserve"

2.0

Horrible experience, I had my trip booked AND paid months before arriving, when I arrived to the front desk to do my check-in they refused to check me in and my family because none of my credit cards had a name on it (for security reasons) They didn’t even offer a refund or anything I wasted my money, and my time I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND. Also Danielle at the front desk has the worst attitude not willing to resolve anything

"Not a friendly or accommodating staff. You’ve been warned."

4.0

What a shame. Such a beautiful resort plagued with absolute negativity from local employees whom 95% of which seem to HATE tourists. Literally hate. Rarely a smile. They try not to acknowledge you at all unless you say something to them which forces a very inauthentic hello. I have never seen such misery as this place from the locals. The front desk staff is where the fun begins. They speak in such inaudible mumbo jumbo that you end up saying yes because after several times telling them you didn’t hear them you just want to move on. Oh, and FORGET about special room requests. High floor? Facing the Lagoon? Ya, they couldn’t care less. I asked for her to confirm my room was lagoon facing when we checked in, to which she said yes, and of course we get up to the room and it’s NOT. And when you tell them that you didn’t get the requested and confirmed room, they will tell you the hotel is very busy and you can’t change rooms. I CALLED AND WENT TO THE FRONT DESK SEVERAL TIMES OVER A 6 DAY STAY and they wouldn’t allow me to move across the hall to a lagoon facing room. “No rooms available” they say. Oh yeah? Well on my way down I saw three lagoon rooms on my floor empty and being cleaned. They LIE to you to get you to shut up. Ask for a manager and they defend their staff and tell you “sorry”, but they’re not. I hate the front desk staff. Gratuity included automatically in everything? SURE it is……. But every transaction you make has a gratuity add button and if you DONT add any, they glare at you. I mean WTF?! FORCING me to pay gratuity and then acting like this when I don’t add more?? Sure thing. And guess who NEVER added more, and stared them dead in the eyes while they saw it. Yep. This place is a living breathing money pit. You never stop spending unreasonably. We ran out of spray sun block. $30 for a can that costs $8 at home. A bottle of snapple is $8.50. Want a bottled water or soda? Not here. For soda they only sell cans so you cant nurse it. They sell water in a box the size of a small bottle for $9. And things are priced differently everywhere you go. A can of coke by the pool is $5 and yet when you go inside the hotel you can find it for $2. Wanna know who was actually genuinely nice? The housekeepers. Perhaps because they were trying to juice you for a nice tip? Perhaps, but I’ll take that over the glare of the others any day. And I did give her a generous cash tip because she was always smiling and offering us room supplies. The place was packed. I can’t complain about that, but it did make things a little rough because everywhere you went there were hardly any chairs. It is what it is but it was realllllly busy. The restaurants and food? Hahahaha. Let me just say I don’t mind treating my family to good food and a nice night out. But holy cow are the restaurants pricey. I’m not going into great detail as you should do your own research, but three of us went to the buffet place and for $240 (plus cash tip, even though gratuity is already included), I expected steak and lobster options. Nope. It was equivalent to Old Country Buffet with a few upscale additions like sushi and a made to order pasta station. That’s. About. It. The brunch would have been $280 for us. No thanks. My God, it’s crazy what they charge. And you’re hostage. And they know it. We ordered room service one night because it was late and we were so tired. A pasta dish and three side dishes was $150 (plus cash tip, because ya know…). The pasta dish was good and sizable. The sides were pretty good. But $150?!?!?! The raging river tube thing was a lot of fun. We did it probably 30 times and it’s a 20 minute ride. I can see how someone can get hurt on it. We were warned by a friend to avoid it because her husband suffered pain and bruising from hitting his tail bone on one of the rapids rocks. We all made sure to raise up in the rapids but it’s quite dangerous. And you have to watch that your head doesn’t slam into the sides during the whole ride but especially during the rapids. If the resort staff was somewhat friendly at times, but it could be so much better. They literally seem like they hate you at this place. And I’m sure management will reply and say blah blah blah, but honestly it all starts at the top. So save your BS.. The property is stunning. It’s huge. There’s a lot to do. Everything is ridiculously expensive. The staff is generally not friendly. Management is useless. Tipping culture there is out of control. I strongly recommend not staying here. It costs a small fortune. They left a horrible impression on our entire group which consisted of about 40. This review is a reflection of the majority of us.
