Freedom Lodge, Kandy

This is a great place to stay in Kandy- not far from the centre but in a good area for food (Sharon Inn buffet!) and bars, close to the lake too. The owners are such lovely, kind and honest people who don’t enforce their services onto you (a rarity in this country) but are equally happy to arrange tours and transfers if needed. Rooms are comfortable and clean and breakfast was delicious. Overall really good value and a great experience - highly recommend.

Our room was missing an aircon, but I think there are in the other rooms; also you can leave the window open at night so it worked fine

We initially booked one night here and ended up staying for three! Sarath and Nalini were wonderful hosts, even collecting us from the station themselves and securing our tickets to an evening show to ensure we got the most out of our time in Kandy. We really enjoyed our conversations with them and learnt a lot about Sri Lanka! Would highly recommend! Breakfast was lovely and the location was ideal, right by the main lake but on a quieter street.

Perfect location in residential area not far from city centre, a very comfortable house with charming hosts

Very secure and private. Owner was very friendly and helpful

Would be nice to have complimentary water bottles in room. Also, the toilet did not work well- had to fill tank with shower head. Wifi did not work. Breakfast was simple and served in a nice setting but not really good value.

Even though it was just 1 night, we had a nice experience at Freedom Lodge. The place is well located, at few minutes walking from the main attractions. Also, the neighbourhood offers good options for dinner. Breakfast is tasty and abundant. Hosts were very warm and welcoming.
