Cabañas Tico Gringo

Very clean accommodation in beautiful surroundings. We were able to spot many animals from our terrace. The hosts are very welcoming and making sure we had everything we needed. Definitely recommend!

We were in the upstairs of the yellow house which was amazingly at tree canopy height. Had half hour displays from capuchins, saw toucans, agoutis and more! Spacious apartment and comfortable. The hosts were enthusiastic to point out animals and in general were very kind and accommodating and will pick you and your luggage up as needed.

The distance from town is what lets it have the wildlife, but in the heat and with all of the hills and stairs it’s not super convenient to get to the beach. It’s only ~8 min walk to the main hub of restaurants etc.

Fantastic place! Short walk to town but far enough away to be a magical, animal paradise. You feel truly immersed in nature but with all the comforts of a great apartment. I watched toucans, monkeys, agoutis and lots of birds from the balcony - amazing. The owner and his wife are the most lovely people, they went above and beyond including things like taking me to the boat at 6am and having water in the apartment every day so you don’t have to carry it.

Gringo and Sophia were wonderful. Gringo met us on the beach to bring our bags to the cabins. The cabin was large, clean and comfortable - perfect for our family of four. They were so attentive to us and Gringo even took us for a drive to an even more remote beach which was spectacular.

The WiFi was a bit sketchy but other than that, everything was perfect.

The apartment is spacious and beautifully situated with great views. The owners take great care of their visitors, cleaning the apartment every two days, making it a very nice stay!

Can’t think of anything

The hosts are lovely. Sonia is great with helping to make your stay as comfortable as possible. She offered up her own hair dryer for my use and was gracious enough to allow us to stay an extra 30 minutes past check out. They also had water for us in the cabana and put out fresh fruit so the birds would visit our front porch daily.

The heater for the shower water did not work so our showers were cold daily. The cabana was not fully air conditioned. Instead just the two bedrooms had air conditioning. The kitchen, bathroom and living room were open air which caused our wet items to not dry. The bed was very uncomfortable. The bathroom had no ventilation. The living room and kitchen had a door that was closed off but still had cracks which let in bugs and a gecko. Breakfast is really needed at this location even if it is just some fresh fruit kept in the fridge. The location is 10 minutes walking from a breakfast spot. Check out is very early at 9 am. Unfortunately our flight was not until 11 am but Sonia needed us out for the next check in at 12 pm. Better to make check in 1-2 pm and allow guests to check out at 10-10:30.

We really enjoyed our stay here! The hosts are extremely friendly, always happy to help. The garden was amazing with a lot of bird watching from our door step.

The views from the porch of the trees and wildlife were great. Lots of space, privacy. We didn’t see or hear other guests.

There were no screens on windows/doors.
