Holyrood New Apartment

The location for primary local sightseeing is very good and the apartment itself is a nice size and with good amenities. Reasonably furnished with a great modern kitchen. Both bathrooms were good and the beds were comfortable. Located in a reasonably quiet location.

I was not provided with instructions, prior to leaving North America, on how to access the apartment. I did send an email before leaving that was not responded to. This caused a significant amount of stress when we arrived. I was finally able to reach the local contact who did get the instructions to me but it was a terrible way to start a vacation. We really couldn't leave the airport until I knew how to get into the apartment. I was told that the instructions had been provided in the booking system, but I confirmed with Booking.com when I arrived home that they were not there. The internal/external lock on the entry door was difficult to figure out. The way to unlock is different (backwards?) from the way to lock it. We were not sure we could even get in the apartment after arriving at the apartment from an overnight flight. These are not typical door locks that we see in North America. The two way windows (open from the top or the side) are also not common in North America or at least in Canada and were also difficult to know how to properly operate. We ended up with a window that we could not close. A guide with simple instructions for the lock and windows would avoid these issues. We arrived back in the early evening from sightseeing one day to find a very heavy police presence both in front of the apartment and on our floor. There were numerous police talking to people on the street and police were in front of the entrance to our apartment talking to people from apartments beside us. Eventually a man from one of those apartments was handcuffed and taken by police. This was a bit unsettling however, we were not impacted by any threat or crime and potentially this may have been an isolated incident. The apartment building itself could use a refresh which would improve the curb appeal of the building and the rental unit.

It was perfect. Clean, comfortable and had everything we needed.

The exterior of building could use some work but we were made aware through other reviews. Don’t let this deter you from staying here. The inside is modern and adorable.

Excellent location - very well placed to walk to the Scottish Parliament, Dynamic Earth, Arthur's Seat and Edinburgh Old Town.

The outside of the building did not look inviting

There was no breakfast included in this package. Vicinity was good .

Your personnel was not very clear with the car parking instructions. Our inquiries were not replied. We had a space card for NCP parking. Every trip in and out we have to ring for help which they obliged by manually open the bar barrier. However on our last evening, they refused us flat to open the bar barrier and insisted that we should pay for the parking which was already included with the booking of the apt. Side table lighting is not working in 1 of the room and no replacement bulbs can be found. We bought a new bulb but the lamp was still not working!

The location was perfect. everything is within a twenty minute walk. Host was easy to contact, and responded very quickly to queries. Host was extremely accommodating with a very early morning arrival and a late check out. instructions and guidance on the property were perfectly detailed.

The exterior of the property requires some renovation. The owner had pre advised this before our travel and it was not a shock or surprise to us. No lift at the property which can make the arrival and departure with luggage a little difficult.

Lovely decor. Clean and comfortable

The flat is in a very good location within easy walking distance of lots of restaurants & bars. It is also within 10 minutes walk to the Royal Mile. The flat was very clean when we arrived with modern appliances and fixtures. Our house Agnes was very prompt in responding to any queries. The parking slot that was included with the booking allowed us to explore both the centre area as well as some of the outskirts.

If I am really nitpicking, we could have done with a few more teabags!
