Central Park Lagunas by Alegría Rentals and Sandy Powerful

My AC didn't work for 3 nights

Our stay at Lagunas was great, the apartment was nice and clean, facilities were good enough for us to be able to cook and store food (hob meals) and the bed was like sleeping in a cloud (the most comfortable bed we've ever stayed in when away) The area in the complex is nice with sun loungers and small pools to dip in and cool down. I used the cowork space a few times which was lovely and cool (with Aircon and good separate WiFi) We had a couple of issues during our three week stay like power cuts due to storms and loud other guests and the resort staff were great at sorting it out relatively quickly. Yes it is about a 20 minute walk to central Tulum but we did this most days, it's not hilly and really not strenuous, the people that complain about the location I'm assuming are used to super convenience on their doorstep. There is a takeaway service you can get delivered from lots of great food spots if you don't fancy walking or cooking. Overall a great stay.

Only a few things really in the nearly one month stay we had! Cleaning is not included, this is understandable for a very short stay but we had to ask to have a complimentary clean mid way through. It's not like we expected everything to be cleaned all the time but clean towels and bedding once a week would've been nice. There's also no source of drinking water at all, we got one bottle upon arrival and that was it. Water at the nearest shop for 5L is around £1.50 and with two of us we got through almost one a day with drinking, cooking etc, this soon added up!. It would be a nice touch for basic water to be included (even if warm and we had to cool in our fridge) when you pay the money you do to stay there we expect basic human needs to be covered. The final thing that was a shame was how expensive the onsite bar/food is. We would've been happy to spend at this place if the costs were more reasonable and not so pricey. For a one week holiday with no spending restrictions this is a great place, for long-term travellers living away it's costly.

Nice condo. New. Comfortable bed.

Far from everything. The neighborhood this is in is under major construction and will be for a while. Roads are basically Baghdad. I'm not even exaggerating. Nothing is close. You'll need a car and even then, it's a good 15-20 min drive to the beach because of the road conditions.

I liked the pool access.

The pools were dirty and cleaned infrequently, the air conditioner didn’t work at all in our room the whole time we were there, the road you drive in on to get to the apartment is treacherous. Seriously huge bumps down nearly the entire road. They didn’t give us enough towels for pool/shower/kitchen/dishes/dirty floor or paper towels or toilet paper for the trip and charge for more despite the higher price point for the overall cost of the stay. Charged us for “damage” when we stained a white towel (that could have easily been bleached and washed clean) because the floors were filthy and disgusting and poorly cleaned and we had to clean them ourselves. The showers were dirty and the floors were dirty the moment we got there - crumbs and dirt everywhere and within the first 5 minutes of taking our shoes off our feet were gray and covered in whatever remnants were on the floor from prior tenants. Lights were burnt out in our room the second we got there, there was virtually no lighting in the bathrooms so I couldn’t see to get ready each morning well, the shower literally wouldn’t get/stay hot. you’d get maybe 30 seconds of scalding hot water and then 60 seconds of freezing water cyclically every time we tried to shower. The Wi-Fi was garbage and worked intermittently at best. We got there after reception was gone for the day and they gave us the wrong code to get into our room which was also annoying.

Room floor and shower were dirty, Wi-Fi sucked, air conditioning didn’t work, didn’t give us enough essential supplies for the duration of the stay, even trash bags, the trash can was so small it filled up constantly, the trash area was overflowing and disgusting outside and needed to be maintained much better, road to the hotel is a nightmare, gave us the wrong door code for entry, lights were burnt out, charged us for “damage” to a towel that we got dirty using it to clean up the floors the first night we got there because they were so poorly cleaned from prior stays, pools weren’t cleaned frequently and were dirty, could’ve been a lot better for the price point.

Liked the fact that there is a kitchen and small fridge. Like the little outdoor space with mini pool. Loved the garden and pool area.

In the room, the first day the internet didn’t work. Then they fixed it but after the AC was not working. Room was at 27 degrees all the time. To get to the Appartments the roads are non-existant and basically there are a bunch of huge holes on dirt roads. Everyone hates the Taxi service in Quintana Roo. There is a Taxi syndicate and the prices are super expensive. If you are a tourist they always try to rip you off. I am Mexican so I would tell them that I wouldn’t pay whatever scam price they wanted me to pay, but talked to a lot of people who got scammed out of paying more! The area where the condos are situated, will be nice in a couple of years for sure, but for the moment it is far from everything!

Fantastic complex and apartment. Spotlessly clean, although it would have been nice to get some fresh towels as we were there for a week. But that's the only thing. Gorgeous pools and grounds. Highly recommend
