Tarnside Cottages

Very rural/remote cottage. Peaceful! Wonderful welcome from the host including starting the log burner.

our 2nd stay. we felt very welcome. The cottage is very comfortable and clean. it is well equipped. beautiful views and quiet atmosphere.

Friendly owners who gave welcome treats. It is a working horse training farm, with chickens and play area for kids.

The weather (haha).

What a fabulous place to stay! So roomy, yet cosy and comfortable with everything you could possible need! Great views from the lounge room, including a glimpse of the tarn and the location is great for visiting both Cumbria and Northumberland. Anne was very welcoming and approachable and we can’t wait to return!

The views from the cottage are amazing! There is plenty of space to relax and it is cosy and clean. I didn’t have a car during my stay but was able to explore the local walks from the farm. Anne the host was lovely and if you find anything missing you can go ask, but I had everything I needed. I would go back another time 😊

Very comfortable and clean. The host was so helpful and kind. A really beautiful setting and lovely to be near the horses and the friendly cat.

On arrival we were greeted by the owner, Anne, who is lovely. There was a welcome pack of treats and the property was spotless! The view across fields to the tarn is gorgeous. The lodges are situated close to the stables where the neighbours are several beautiful horses! There were chucks and an occasional pheasant wandering past the window and sheep in the fields, it was lovely to just sit and gaze at the view. The king-size bedroom looked very inviting but we opted for the ground floor twin singles because the prospect of maneuvering the spiral staircase to the loo during the night didn't appeal. Overall it's a beautiful place for a quiet break, with good walks/fishing nearby.

Not a criticism, just a little advice....It is quite isolated so make sure you shop before you arrive. There's a fridge with small freezer compartment in the lodge but also a larger freezer you can use, in a nearby shed.
