Spacious but nothing else

Bed was very uncomfortable with a bad mattress. Very thin pillows and only one each. Hair in bathroom, no complimentary toiletries and only given 1 towel for a couple for two night stay. The light outside the room is on all night as it is a common room, only vertical blinds to cover it for privacy. No complimentary tea or coffee. I was sent from one property to another a few miles apart. Was that bad I checked out after the first night to another hotel!

"I'll Never Book With Empire Again"

Booked an apartment that I've stayed at several times. Arrived to check in to find I'd been moved, without notification, consultation or even asking if I minded to a property about 1 mile away. I met the agent who seemed nice enough, but no apologies. The replacement property was okay, new but very small, no view, dark, small windows and characterless. I didn't check in, didn't stay and asked for a part refund off Empire. The request was completely ignored so it cost me £437.15 for nothing. Then they have the audacity to send me an email offering me a 10% discount for booking directly with them. I will never stay with them again. Unprofessional, uncaring, unorganised and useless.

"Disappointing and uncomfortable. I expected a lot more for the price I was charged."

I picked it for the location. It’s close to the Airport and a bus stops close to the property.

I was given a wrong door code. When I tried to enter the building late in the evening at check-in, I was unable to enter and the listed phone number was not available for help. After half an hour, a resident of the building let me in as he happened to pass by chance. There’s a huge cell phone antenna on the roof. Just meters away as the property is on the top floor. The heating didn’t work for the first 3 days and the property was very cold. The cooking plate was broken when I arrived. The property was tidy but not very clean. The walls were damaged and scratched. I also had to ask for new towels. After I complained and asked for compensation for the inconvenience, the manager reacted defensively and didn’t apologise.

"Lovely apartment"

The apartment was very tidy comfortable and warm stunning view the bed was comfy it was easy too get too everything you need for a nice get away

The state of the building outside the where rubbish and ciggy buts and little plastic bag all down the stairs

"disappointing"

The apartment has potential to be lovely. Nice size for a short stay. The bed was comfortable. Kitchen had the essential items needed. No cleaning products though and no kitchen towels to wipe up. The shower was reasonably good. The price was very good. The problems were responded to appropriately. They were accommodating to planned late arrival.

On arrival, I was sadly very disappointed. The property was filthy. Washing up from previous occupants, used chopping board, piles of rubbish, food and half drunk wine in fridge. It looked like the previous guests were still there! Then, the worst bit, what looked like vomit in the bathroom sink. Presumably the cleaner had forgotten /been unable to clean the property. The bedding was not fresh. Previous occupant had left the property in a terrible state. Both booking agency, and owner responded to complaint straight away which was good, but the poor start put me off being there. The description "5 mins from nec" was inaccurate. I anticipated walking distance, but it was a good 10/15 minutes in taxi, and would take nearer 80 minutes to walk according to Google maps. The apartment is very noisy with traffic on a busy road. The soundproofing between flats is poor. A few times I thought someone was coming into the apartment, but was neighbouring flat. The property has a lot of marks on the walls which need painting. It looks a bit unloved. It needs a good clean too. Even after the cleaning had been done, it still looked grubby. The lift also wasn't working, which as I'm awaiting knee replacement, caused a big struggle trying to carry luggage down 6 flights or stairs. I wouldn't have booked if I knew id have to do that many stairs. Overall, very disappointing and would not stay again, and would not recommend. Really, I feel I should have been compensated for such terrible experience. The description and pictures on the advert did not match the apartment in reality. I didn't even sleep in the bed the first night, it felt too dirty. I hate giving a bad review, and usually try to focus on the positives. We are all human, and sometimes things can't be helped, but there was no excuse for this, and tbh, not a big enough apology.

"Great location, disappointing property conditions."

Location was great, very close to the NEC and the parking was convenient. There is a garage right next to the property and Morrisons, plus a lot of takeaways and restaurants close by.

Wrong code was supplied to get in the building entrance. Elevator was broken and stuck on level 2, had to carry all my bags up 5 flights of stairs. The serviceable sections of the building were shabby, with damp patches on the carpets, marks and gouges all over the walls. The apartment itself was generally okay, if a little cold and damp, but there were marks and gouges all over the bedroom walls. The bathroom was well presented and clean, but there were opened and mostly empty bottles of shower gel which should have been replaced.
