Weligama Watergate

Can only recommend staying here. Very nice and super clean room. Big bathroom with hot water and also super clean. The A/C is working perfectly. There is also a veranda to sit at. It is very good located close to the beach and you can go to the beach promenade, where surf schools, restaurants and bars are, easily by foot. The owner family is awesome and super helpful with recommendations about things do to in the area. We really enjoyed our stay here a lot and can only recommend this to anyone else who is looking for an accomodation in the area.

Very friendly staff, good size, clean room and so close to the beach and nice restaurants. Morning tea always offered, good size bathroom with hot water and nice to have a laundry service on site.

The fridge would benefit from a good clean. Quite difficult to find from one end through a very small unlit snicket and from the other end difficult for large vehicles to turn round so you need to be ready for drive in and reverse out.

Great location and very kind family. Amazing hot water shower! Laundry service was prompt and affordable! Also felt very safe at the property.

WiFi didn’t work, A/C kept freezing up so it got hot at night, they need some new sheets.

Our host Vasu and his family were just amazing! Gorgeous family who are so welcoming and it was lovely chatting with them. Room was spacious and comfortable. We also had a large fridge and a kettle. The bed was super comfortable and there is an overhead fan as well as air con. It’s lovely and quiet in a small lane but just across the road from the beach which is nice and quiet, we swam every day. There are places nearby to eat and some small shops. Also a very good gym just 10 minutes walk away. We didn’t try the breakfast but our hosts kindly brought us tea or coffee every day. Our 4 night stay was a very nice experience and we hope to return next year.

Internet did not work well

The family couldn’t have been friendlier and their daughter Vina who is 8 year old is adorable and speaks excellent English. If you stay here for the price they offer you will be very happy.

Our stay at the Watergate Resort in Weligama was fantastic! Rooms: The rooms were spacious, beautifully simple, and very cozy – everything was clean and well-maintained, making it easy to feel at home. Beach & Surf: The location is ideal, just a short walk to a lovely beach and a great surf spot. Perfect for relaxing by the sea or catching some waves. Relaxed Atmosphere: The calm and welcoming vibe made it the perfect spot to unwind. The staff were friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. We’d highly recommend this resort!

The Double Room was Well presented with a Comfy Double Bed and the attached Shower Room was Clean & Clear!
