Hostal Doña Mercedes

Good location and really lovely staff. Also did the 7waterfalls tour through them. A little more expensive than some of the other operators but it was a small private group and that was really nice.

Property is a bit old and dated and not enough washrooms for the amount of people staying.

Nice staff, good location, cotton sheets, clean. Cheap scooter hire for $15

Had a double bed in a dorm, was very close to the other bed that someone else was sleeping in

Breakfast was good and location as well

A lot of dead bees were all around. Hostel was small, not a lot to do

We had an awesome stay. The staff is super kind and friendly and helped us with every question we had. The breakfast was delicious and overall a really great and relaxed vibe. Highly recommend to stay here and also to book the waterfall tour with them. Thank you so much for everything!

Location is great, right in the centre and close to everything including the bus stop. The staff were great and very helpful. The free breakfast was a typical Salvadorian breakfast, but I asked them to make mine vegan by taking off the eggs and cheese (I had plantain, fruit, frijoles, bread, and diced tomato, plus orange juice and coffee). The courtyard is very cute to hang out in and eat breakfast. They also let me check in early at 10:30 and leave my bags there after checkout while I went out to explore.

There's only one bathroom for all the guests which was quite annoying.

One shower/toilet for I think 4 rooms so you can be waiting. They also lock the front door at night but did not give us any keys to get back in. We arrived home at about midnight and were locked out! We rang the bell multiple times but the only people we woke up were other guests. Not only was the front door locked but also the fire exit! I know no one wants to think about a fire starting but that is extremely dangerous that all guests were locked in!! The other guests had to go behind the front desk and thankfully they found keys to open the door but we were still outside for about an hour trying to get in! That would be enough time to burn alive if there had been a fire!!

Great location, right in the middle of town. Rooms were clean and beds were comfy, the fan in the room was enough to cool it down. Free breakfast was great and tasty, staff were friendly and kitchen facilities were ok. Not super social but if you’re in the dorm it’s easy to meet people as there isn’t a lot to do at night anyway

Only 1 shower/toilet for the whole hostel was a pain especially in the evening when everyone was using at the same time.
