Bon Maison Guest House

This was the PERFECT place to stay in new orleans if you don’t want to have to worry about driving or calling an uber. We booked the penthouse apartment for my twenty first birthday weekend and it was so convenient to just be able to walk back to the airbnb after a long night on Bourbon Street. The place was SO clean and spacious I was blown away that I got so much for a price so affordable. The staff was very sweet and patient I had some confusion on my part checking in and the woman I spoke with on the phone made everything so easy and quick for us. The villa in the middle is also so gorgeous (and a great place for pictures) the whole vibe of the place was very relaxed, safe, and comfortable.

The only thing that was a little challenging was parking but that’s not really anybody’s fault, the staff does a great job of recommending good parking lots though!

The bed and pillows were very comfortable. A refrigerator, microwave, plates, utensils, and cutlery were available. I am not a coffee drinker, but there is a machine with a wide selection of coffees for those who need it. Basic wardrobe with hangers, nothing fancy. The television was large, and although the back button on the remote requires force to press and activate, everything else was fine. There was ample lighting around the single room. The floor in the main room is partly carpeted—thin but it helps prevent chills. The bathroom lacks sturdy, non-slip mats or rugs. They had one rug, which I almost slipped on, and that was not fun. The property is ideal for a single traveler. Prime location—away from the noise of Bourbon Street. If your main priority is a comfortable bed to sleep in after your daily activities, right in the heart of the French Quarter, then this is the place for you.

This is no fault of the property owners, but I had difficulty retrieving my key from the automated key deposit and retrieval system. It seemed the previous guest did not return the keys upon checkout, so I didn't have one when I arrived. The staff was helpful; they sent the housekeeper to assist and gave me a different room to sit and relax while they sorted out the key issue. It made me think—this is why I should have booked a hotel instead of an Airbnb or guest house. The room itself is great for a single traveler. It has no windows, which I didn't like—but for someone who prefers to be outdoors most of the time, this might not be a problem. My main complaint is the shower, especially the floor. It was dirty and protected by a mat that was also dirty. Water pools at your feet, which is a major ick for me.

Would have been awesome to have early or late check out, or luggage storage

Die Lage war das einzig positive an dem Appartement.

Das Türschloss zum Penthouse war defekt und es hat uns über eine Stunde gekostet überhaupt in das Appartement zu kommen. Es war dreckig (tote Kakerlaken im Bad, getrocknete Kotze im Genster/Türe zum Balkon, Staub unter dem Bett, Lüfter im Bad,….)

Amazing location! You are directly on Bourbon Street! Despite being in the middle of all the action, the moment you walk in your room it’s so quiet!

Even thought the house was on Bourbon street, we couldn't hear any noise once we stepped past the gate. Loved it!

Convenient location on the quiet end of Bourbon St. Responsive staff. Kitchenette had decent-sized fridge and supplies. Good value. My unit was windowless, which kept down any street noise, and was great for sleeping. Mattress and pillows were EXTREMELY comfortable.

I had some initial difficulty upon arrival with the key box. And while the mattress was extremely comfortable, the wooden bed frame was VERY squeaky and loud (comically so) during intimate moments.

Unfortunately, my stay at this hotel was rather disappointing. The room was nicely and modernly furnished, but that was almost the only positive thing. Getting the key was a nightmare: I had to spend about 40 minutes messaging with the staff through Booking before I finally received any kind of access to the hotel. A very frustrating start. Then the room itself: no windows, no daylight, and no way to ventilate naturally — only a mechanical system that hardly helped. The air was extremely humid, like in a damp basement. Floors and surfaces were actually moist, and everything smelled musty. To get at least some fresh air or light, I had to leave the door to the hallway open, where people constantly walk by and can look inside. Not pleasant at all. After the trip, all my clothes smelled like a basement — even the ones that stayed packed in my suitcase. Nice design, but serious issues with organization and especially the room climate. Unfortunately, I can’t recommend this hotel for a comfortable stay.

Excellent location. Very good value for the price.
