Welsh Gatehouse A Historic Castle Retreat that Welcomes Dogs and Electric Vehicles

Absolute gem of a place. Clean, tidy and well equipped. Lovely location with a decent pub in very easy stumbling distance. Great balance between modern convenances and traditional/period feel. Easy and thorougher communication with the host... That’s where I would normally leave my review but this property and host deserves more. A nice welcome hamper that was unexpected, local discount information. Logburner all set and ready to put a match to… If you don’t mind some more steps you can get a great view (I don’t have a head for heights but it is well set up). Everything has been thought of here, towels, robes and cleaning bits provided on every front to make your stay simple. Plenty of dvd’s to fall back on in the evening. It’s also nice to see recycling and sorting taken into consideration. Clearly labeled waste bins with lids are clear and simple to use. I would and will highly reccomend a stay for anyone mobile.

Highly recommend the stay, not a dislike as it was apart of the charm but the access would be hard for some. This is well communicated though.

A very well thought out conversion which makes for an enjoyable stay in a building steeped in history. Always nice to have a wood burner…

Given the age of the property & obvious building constraints it would be unfair to compare this property against a much more modern one.

A wish-list place to stay with its unique character. Everything that is provided is first-class, no detail has been skimped on. The extra effort by way of unexpected Christmas decorations was a real surprise, but the smaller details count - the fact the heating and lights were left on ready for my after sunset arrival made it particularly welcoming.

I never did get to see the place in daylight - I will have to do a repeat visit not in the depths of winter.

A lovely layout with all facilities, great rooftop views, and just a great place to spend a night. The instructions before arrival was excellent.
