North View cottage. Shaldon village.

Location was very good, bed very comfy and plenty of hot water.

Feet stuck to kitchen floor, cupboard fronts in kitchen were dirty, overall place didnt feel clean, marks on walls. No homely touches just very basic. No hairdryer or 2nd key. Front door really dirty and bins dumped outside so not a great 1st impression.

Brilliant location. Well equipped with all you need for a few days. Up to date coastal decor. Fair price.

Parking is a 7 minute walk from the cottage and is not included or guaranteed. Heating temperature was limited on the thermostat so we were a little cold and the place lacked The cosiness we were expecting. Giving ever rising fuel cost we were no surprised but disappointed the information advised we could set our our comfort. Provided enough fuel for one fire. On arrival very strong soot smell throughout the property so needed a really good airing.

It’s a beautiful cottage, well equipped with everything you could need. Very comfortable beds and very cosy! Right in the centre of the village and a short walk to beach.

Couldn’t fault anything

The House was very clean and in a great location. It had everything you would need for a short stay. The beds were very comfortable comfortable and the bathroom had a great shower. All in all a nice place to stay.

Parking was slightly inconvenient, and I do mean only slightly. The actual location of the parking spot is a few minutes walk from the house. Not a very long walk to be fair but we ended up finding parking in the village, closer to the house. This would not stop me staying here but is worth a very small mention.

North View is a beautiful cottage in a fabulous location. It’s really nicely decorated, clean, and feels very welcoming and comfortable. The cottage is in a perfect spot in Shaldon, close to everything, and we visit the area several times a year, so the location is ideal for us. It’s a lovely place to stay and, despite a few minor issues during our visit, it’s definitely somewhere we would happily return to.

Unfortunately, during our stay the boiler developed a fault, which meant we had no heating or hot water, so we weren’t able to have showers and had to rely on the wood burner to keep warm. There were only a couple of logs and no kindling provided, so we had to buy our own. We also had a few minor maintenance issues: the back yard light and a bedside lamp didn’t work, an alarm was beeping due to a low battery, and the towels and tea towels smelled a bit musty, as though they hadn’t fully dried before being put away. We did raise these issues with the agent, but only received a brief “thanks for letting us know” and no offer of any compensation or goodwill gesture. All of these things are quite easily fixable, but they did take the edge off what would otherwise have been a perfect stay.

Cute and cosy, good location

On arrival, I had to wash towels as they were folded damp and left on the bed therefore they gave off an unpleasant ‘wet dog’ smell. One of the single beds had crumbs on the bed sheets before it had been used.
