Coastal cottage ‘The Old Bank’

Ideal location for our purpose - which was walking the South West Coast Path. Choice of two pubs and a chippy close by! We were made to feel very welcome l, and a Cream Tea was a welcome surprise!

Very clean and good facilities and location.

It was fine

Offered a perfect base for a weekend exploration of Hartland Peninsula. Good facilities in property meant I had everything I needed to hand. I enjoyed the morning visitations from the local chickens!

Wifi was unreliable but unsure if that is a local problem rather than specific to this property? It didn't bother me too much but might be more of an issue for others.

Hostess was super friendly and very helpful!

No t towels or dishcloths in kitchen. Also no central heating so cold in bathroom

Almost everything. Our initial 'welcome' was an ashtray full of water and dog-ends on garden furniture that hadn't seen a brush or cloth in a long time. The main door opened into the kitchen and we immediately saw that the floor hadn't been swept, this made me look more closely, but once inside the property, the musty/damp smell was an assault to my nostrils. I live in an old cottage with thick walls and appreciate it takes a lot to keep the smell away - but if you own one, you do what you've got to do. The bedroom was a decent space but the lack of cleanliness was unacceptable (attached are photos of the window seat). I didn't check the bed because by that point we'd had enough and left. I messaged the owner privately & sent the photos 2days ago, giving her the opportunity to comment or refund us (at least for the cleaning), but she has declined to respond. I therefore give you all fair warning of what to expect.
